Adding Legacy Tattoo to Mog Station

For me the reason I want it is due to the lore difference. While I the meta player did not know of or play 1.0, my character did exist in hydaelyn at the time (He would have to have, to be the age he is). I would like to play a character that had been at the past events, I like those events for immersion and the story, plus I roleplay a character from that time period. I wish that we could choose where we wanted our characters to be for immersive purposes. It is not really good to limit an entire storyline and character experience to simply those who knew about and had the funds to play 1.0.

There are, I believe, a few slight changes in cutscenes if you have it, but not in the lore of the main storyline. Your character was at Carteneau regardless. Cid and the Wandering Minstrel both recognize you as one of the original Warriors of Light from that time whether you have a legacy mark or not (as well as lots of other hints towards that fact from others). Those of us who didn't start the game until ARR got that part of the lore simply as backstory of where our character was before the game began rather than getting to play through that part of the story, but it's still a part of FFXIV lore either way.

They should def add some tattoos. I personally think the legacy tattoo looks kind of dumb but to each their own I guess.

I am sure if you throw your money hard enough at someone, you can get one of those shirts. Heck you could probably make one for yourself. And I did not play XI, but exclusivity is a thing of the past. Everyone should have an opportunity to obtain everything in an MMO environment, there is no reason to limit players. Even if it is a grind, even if it is a long time goal, even if it is incredibly gated, just having the option to be able to work towards it is nice.

Does it 'ruin your accomplishments' of logging on during a timeframe? Not really. If you were truly there to support SE you would have supported them whether or not you got any benefits.
I had the animal liege gear on PvP before rank restrictions are removed. Does it ruin my achievement? Not really, I realized there was things I could work forward to in the future and I got to enjoy the animal gear for quite some time as a 'status symbol'
I had a relic weapon, they are really easy to get now. Did it ruin my achievement? Not really. I was able to enjoy the best weapon in the game and a cool glamour for quite some time.
I had past event items that are now in the cash shop. Did it ruin my achievement? Not really, I attained them for free and had them before everyone else.
I was a 4 star crafter, but now 4 star crafts are easy to make. Did it ruin my achievement? Nah, I made a lot of gil when it was relevant.

Thing is, you can still make those 4 star crafts so it's not really an apt analogy. And it's not really about the achievement, it's about having been there. You can't really compare a postcard of the Grand Canyon to actually being at the Grand Canyon. In asking to have the specific tattoo despite having never played 1.0 you're effectively asking for the postcard to be the place it's extolling.

Really it is a event item with a cool storyline, but if we look at it from a solidified lore perspective, the cases I stated above would contradict it. I would very much like to play my character as having experienced 1.0 events, even if I the player did not have the opportunity to be there.

Your character was definitely around, he just wasn't sent away by Louisoix. There's plenty of really good RP opportunity to be had from living through the 5 years after the Calamity rather than just disappearing.

And technically removing the pvp requirement from the animal gear is very similar, the people can now have the item without the grind, the 'experience', the time spent, whatever you want to call it. A lot of people were there but did not get it, and a lot of people wished they could get it but could not, and some people barely played for even a few minutes and have it.

A lot of the people in this forum are trying to find specialness and meaning where there is none. The reduced sub, the name in credits, and the legacy bo mean something. Logging in at a specific time does not.

Participation means something. There was more than enough advertisment going around that this was a event unique to 1.0.

I would consider being willing to spend money in a cash shop and/or do a quest chain in game to be participation.

Wouldnt really have an issue with this, I always support more customization and vanity options for as many people as possible.

To appease the majority and still somewhat appeal to the legacy players, possibly add a whole bunch of different ones then, in varying colors , styles and body placements could be a good thing too. idk.

Well sorry, you cannot (and frankly should not) buy the mark and status. It was unique to the campaign at the time of 1.0's final days. the only hurts you feel you gave yourself.

I take it you want a digit taken off your current gil, too?

Honestly if it would get me the tattoo through a gil sink I would be willing to spend all my gil, for it yes.

I currently have enough gil to buy a grade 1 large house on my server at full price, if that puts any perspective on the situation.

Honestly I don't care what you are willing to pay.

You are asking for a history rewrite so you can pretend to have a status. You are not a legacy character.
