This is no more a "disrespect" to people that have a zeta than Echo is a "disrespect" to raiders. More than anything, it seems like you're just upset that people are able to get your special shinies more easily than you did. People take this crap way too personally. Look, Yoshi P didn't just wake up one day and try to think up a way to piss off the playerbase. This is a vertical progression MMO. That means gear gets outdated, and when it's outdated it becomes more accessible. I can't imagine trying to do the original light grind now when it sometimes takes DPS over an hour just to get into a hard mode trial (yes, seriously, over an hour; it's pretty nuts).
So, when you did your relic, what did you get for your time? You got a weapon that was at the time BiS or close to it. You got the lore that went with each step (some of it was admittedly better than others, but still more lore than the raid drops have). Now, the game has moved on from those relics. They can be replaced by green dungeon drops around 55-56. We don't have horizontal progression (and thank god for that, collecting multiple rare gear sets for one class is not my cup of tea), so once an item is outdated it's basically just something pretty to look at.
What gets me is you're kicking and screaming about the old relic quest being made more accessible when we don't even know what the new relic will be like. Would it have been kinda cool for them to continue from the old relic? From our standpoint, sure. Some more cool lore, building more on what we already had, might've been fun. From the standpoint of new and returning players having the new relic gated behind the old Zeta, not so much. They've taken the expansion and made it an opportunity to kind of "reboot" the game for those players. It's been said that people with completed Zetas will get some sort of consideration in the new relic quest. We just don't know what exact form that consideration will take because they haven't released any further details.
