I agree and sign!
As a returning player, left when I beat the 2.x took a break for a couple months and came back ready for heavensward, one of the major things I was excited for was making my alt into an au ra girl. Saw an awesome face, but it was with horns I hated. Saw awesome horns, no good face. This bothers me so much sadly.
SE fix this please, thanks =)
A key question to all of this is really what is this Core System? How does it work and how is it limiting customization options? All we have are speculations and nothing that actually explains it. It was such a vague answer...
I don't see changes happening any time soon, but on the matter of what I would give up to get more customization:
It's not really a good policy to take things away that have already been implemented. I for one wouldn't want that kind of insecurity with a character I've grown attached to, that some day a feature that matters to me could be removed since it's not popular among enough players anyway. I'm not saying tail length is something that I'm particularly excited about, just that option-removal not a good course of action to encourage.
On the other hand, not implementing something that we don't have yet anyway - that I'm more fine with. Like expanding on current character features with the next expansion rather than adding another race. I would definitely be willing to wait even longer for a new race if it meant something like doubling the options on the current ones. It's not just the Au Ra who could use some love!
Imagine being able to choose between a set of body types, or add a third version of all the races, like Wildwood/Duskwight/???, Highlander/Midlander/???, Sunseeker/Moonkeeper/??? (I could see some lore difficulties with that idea, though).
Unlocking features tied to specific faces, like scars, facial hair - or Au Ra horns - would greatly expand on character customization too.
More face types available, more tattoos, more horn types for Au Ra, more tail types for Au Ra and Miqo'te, maybe something like body hair option for at least male characters, muscle sliders on all races, eyebrow option for highlanders, a more saturated option for highlights in the hair section... I can dream, right? Since it has something to do with a "core system" I would speculate that doing all of these things would require about as much work as adding a complete new race would, if not more. But in my eyes it would be worth it
Aww, thank you! I see you're someone who's embraced the blue, as well :3

Honestly I'm still praying for a whole "Hey here is a few patches with a some focus on customization to improve it" or some major changes to it with the next expansion.. An explanation on the current system and what they could do would be nice as well.
Oh yeah! I think the original question was phrased in the whole "Well if you HAD to" sorta deal. I don't think any of us want to remove features up and right now, but it's still be nice I guess.
Honestly I wish they'd put a little focus on it, it doesn't help with how suggestion un-friendly the NA/EU forums seem to be though, like if it doesn't directly appeal to that person a lot of people don't seem to happy to see it as a topic.. But whatever, that's just anecdotal.
My biggest issue is any suggestion concerning the already in game race changes/additions seems to be shot down (Forever bitter about my height thread..) . I can imagine lore being the biggest issue with every race but Hyurs, as all of them besides hyurs seem to stay in the Eorzean area (Specifically the Elezen and the Roegadyn which have long histories around Gridania/Ishgard and Alabatha's Spine/Vylbrand respectively). Maybe like some 3rd clan of Miqo'te that came from Meracydia and some hidden Au Ra clan would be possible, but for all we know it'll be same old Miqo'te but with reddish tints to their skin and the same old Au Ra with gray scales. I'm still a good bit miffed about how the Xaela, the warring nomads, have women with the exact same cutesy and young mannerisms and looks as the Raen do. I get appealing to your main demographics (Which is why the girls look as they do apparently..), but is it really that hard to make an option for the other demographics too?
Seriously, every race needs to be brought up to the M!Midlander's 6 faces, like especially with some more tougher adult like faces being added to the demi-beastman races. And I'd love for a "Fur patch/Scales" option for the Miqo'te and Au Ra. I think they really some of them would require changed to the "core system" but others wouldn't at all, changes to make the height scale have a greater range (As in keeping it at 100 values but just changed what each value means), more facial options, and more tails all seem very feasible at the current moment for example.
My biggest issue is with all of us asking for more stuff and being met with "No can do, current core systems won't allow it." doesn't really answer why don't Hyurs and Roegadyn have another addition besides muscle sliders (As the other races all have a slider and selection screen, while the Roes and Hyurs have their tattoos stuck in the facial stuff iirc) and why guys don't have something to match the breast slider on the girls, it's all very vague and leaves that stuff open.
Well, I'm a lot less blue than you, but I do love the skin tone!
