Exclusive cash shop items are even worse IMO...bad memories come to mind of all the countless MMOs where the only way to look cool or unique was to pay up on the cash shop, because all the new and cool designs were developed for it. You never even get the chance to be lucky and get something in game, because it's made with the cash shop in mind from the beginning.

Employees of Square Enix, you people should be ashamed of yourselves, selling more and more stuff in your cash shop, stuff that could have been content for players to earn through gameplay.

Cosmetics are fine. And as to having them in there PLUS a sub fee... not so much a fan of that. But at least these cosmetics are a LOT cheaper than what the B2P/F2P games charge for theirs. Those new outfits would be $10+ on some other MMOs, and the dance would be $10-15.

Instead its like $2 dance, $3 outfit. But that said, I will easily pay $7 for an account bound item, even though I have 3 characters... BEFORE I will pay $2 for a character specific item 3 times... Because of convenience.

I paid $5 for a cup of coffee this morning... so its a tad odd to complain about $2. $2 is the kind of money that if it drops out of your hand... its not worth your time to spend reaching down to pick it back up...

I'm not going to say the cash shop is a faultless concept, but it does allow SE to put things that don't make any darn sense whatsoever in the context of the game, like it being the only way for us to obtain fantasia and whatever is fine..

Eh, as long as they're otherworldly or whatever I don't think I care. Want a ridiculous motorcycle or something? Cash shop. Want more aetheryte tickets in a mass quantity? Cash shop. Want fantasia or whatever? Cash shop. If we pressure SE to still make nice new and cool designs in game or whatever it's fine in my book.

Vanity is content. People care about vanity. If it wasn't content, I suppose you'd be perfectly content playing the game wearing some grey cubes?

Once again: In the previous year, we got new events with new rewards AND old rewards.

Yeah, cuz I'm not wasting my time complaining about a business decision that SE made. Also the old rewards were from 1.0. A game not many played upon it's release. Now that 2.0 was very accessible to many, there's no reason to keep giving out old items in the game.

I thought our forums were a laughingstock because everybody here is suddenly a business expert in the video game industry when Square Enix makes a move they disagree with.

Last time I checked, this is a game made by SE not EA. SE has the right to run the game the way they want to. Go see companies like Capcom or EA, then go look at other small companies. All doing the same exact thing, some worst then others.

Any sensible person can see half the complain are about so many minor things, it's amazing we still have support for this game. SE is doing nothing different than any other company out there. FFXIV is a game. A game that is currently in the age of DLC. DLC that is part of the mainstream of gaming. People's complaints are greatly outway by the people who either come to accept the age of DLC or who have bottomless pockets. What's sad is half the complaints are probably people that already have the vanity items already. New people are out of luck and have to do go buy it.

If that's the case, you might as well get rid of the whole cash shop completely and sell the entire selection on the vendor as well.

Why not? If not vendor the items should be atainable within the game by you know playing the game.

Gold saucer rewards, acheivment prizes, raid drops, gathered, crafted, farmed. These are all great ways to include these items in the game without putting them behind a pay wall and making the game have more content within it instead of outside of it. Paying for items in the cash shop does not encourage them to release new content every year, it encourages them to place more items in the cash shop.

I wish more companies were like CdProjektRed.

Lots of small DLCs made for free for The Witcher 3, most companies would charge a small to medium amount for the same things.

Large DLC being made for the price most companies would charge for a medium sized DLC, and if their track record is anything to go by, it'll most likely be of much higher than average quality and detail.

Other companies, take note. That's how you show you value your customers, and that's how you get rewarded more in the long run by the perks that come with loyal customers.

So every patch and everthing inbetween ARR and HW was not free? Well, except the monthly subscription ofc. But on that regard we can take that the Witcher series is a Single Player game and don't need servers running to keep the game online.

Except your subscription fee has already purchased that chocolate; the "little extra" isn't paying for the chocolate, it's paying to unlock the cookie jar so you can have one.
