So I have been wondering this for awhile ,but did we ever learn what happened to him between the lvl 50 drg quest an his return in "before the fall"?

Are we just suppose to assume he fled after we tapped into the azure dragoon's power and attacked him ,then just continued his regular holy see duties?

After we free him from Nidhoog's influence proabably he undertood that the eye's power was too dangerous to be near the city. So he left for a long time, hoping that Nidhoog will chace him instead of truning on the city. But some time after that he come back because he notice that he didnt care his eye anymore.

It may not be that Nighogg did not care, but that he turned his focus on his OTHER eye. As we learned the Holy See was planning to use it's power to become primals representing Thordan and his knights, one can assume that Nidhogg was not blind to the Archbishop's plot.

The thing about the dragoons is that they aren't particularly bound to the Holy See. As shown by the flashback to the aftermath of Thordan and his Knights' victory over Nidhogg, the dragoons (or at least the Azure Dragoon) don't answer directly to the Holy See. Haldrath leaves to do things his own way before the High Houses formed the church; I assumed it was part of the dragoon traditions to act on their own will.

Clearly they have no trouble going against the Holy See as well, since Estinien supports our struggle to free Aymeric. He says something like "Dragoons have no love for the Holy See," so...

Anyway, for what he was doing after DRG 50 until the Steps of Faith? If you haven't maxed DRG he says he was struggling with Nidhogg for control; I would assume the same applies, and he's been wandering to draw Nidhogg's attention away from Ishgard anyway. I presume the same applies here.

Yes he didnt care, he was so obsseced with his revenge that he was more concered than that than his eye.

You are right on thing. The reason why Nidhoog may has changed his 1000 year revenge on just couple days was before, yes beacuse of his orther eye most probably, He notice the archovishop's plot. He knew perfectly that the "new Ishgard plan" would end his revenge. So he decided to killing them all.

I'm curious has anyone done any of the DRG quest line pre 50 after completing Heavensward? I know we run into Estinien a couple times and I'm wondering how our characters reacts considering he isn't a dragon anymore or whatever. I know our interaction with him is different when we run into him again if you've completed the quest line.

This makes sense considering doing CUL quests after 2.55 did the same thing [Nanamo and Lolorito just chillin' having dinner instead of being in a coma/actively hunting you]. (Though since post-50 DRG quests and HW MSQ are both 3.0, there are slight dialogue changes if you complete the HW MSQ before 50+ DRG quests, I think)

I believe in the main story, whether you've done the DRG story line or not, Estinien acts is if he's met you before. Taking a page from Moose's book...
