And the seasonal events are limited time content with exclusive items.

The items were originally only available by participating in the events. When the season came around again, SE sold some of the old items for gil. Players who had done the event and were told that the items were exclusive to the event pointed out the mistake to SE. So as a compromise, SE is offering them for real money.

Nothing wrong with it at all.

I don't mind old stuff going into the cash shop as long as we are getting new stuff. After all, there's some truth to the argument that "you weren't paying then."

I'm just going to buy the dance because I've been waiting it for months ever since I returned to the game and saw someone use it. While they very well could have put it in to flesh out this year's event, it's hard to say if it would be better that way.

The one thing I'm not exactly happy about is the gender-locked items going on sale separately. I thought seasonal event gear can be exchanged for the opposite sex in-game? I'm not buying the Yukatas until I find out if I could exchange it for the opposite sex if I use a Fantasia again in the near future.

People don't understand that SE is not obligated to bring back items from a past event. Your lucky you can still get them at this point.

@Zfz, Yes, any gender specific item from Seasonal Events is exchangeable between genders from the Calamity NPC....

Just because they did this at the beginning of ARR's lifespan doesn't mean they intended OR are obligated to keep it the same way for every event in the game's future. If anything I agree with people earlier in the thread who say that the reason SE did that at all was because a significant proportion of the game's playerbase wasn't around for 1.0 events (where a lot of these "event vendor" items originally came from.) or may have stayed away from ARR during the first few months due to 1.0's reputation. Once SE determined that most of these players had had their chance to obtain the items one way or another, they phased out the old system they had for event items in favor of this one, one that provides more exclusivity but still gives newbies a chance to obtain items they may really want through the Mog Station.

The fact that you didn't expect them to change it doesn't mean the change itself was motivated by greed or thoughtlessness. It was a very deliberate action on their part, and honestly it's one I and many of the playerbase agree with.

I'm personally glad SE is putting old event stuff (especially the yukatas!) as an optional thing in the cash shop as opposed to having them never be available again.

I'm so confused. So people would complain if they bring the same event back again (like the lightning event). So to avoid that, they just put the items from an old event into a cash shop..and people complain. Ok, which one do people want? Old events returning over and over again or this?

Thank god they r putting it in cash shop. "Earning it"? Wtf r u talking about lol WE DID MINDLESS FATES AND RUN TO A B -C FETCH QUESTS lol ( and the rare buy it on mb )

I rather have this than have them
    - recycle old content rewards
    - do same old seasonal / special event

LIGHTNING EVENT omg wtf how many times did SE bring tht back? Just shove it in cash shop and be done with it.
Ppl buy it, SKIP the MINDLESS grinds and most importantly BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE STUFF LIKE OTHER PPL.

It wont give u exp boost, gil awesome raid gear.

So idk y u guys r so butthurt about emotes going in the cash shop.
I'd buy the "huzzah" emote as i missed tht event and would love to have it.

I prefer to have them sold at cash shop, I'd buy them for a few bucks and I'll enjoy the new events instead, rather than re-doing the old event quests. It's old.
Each to their own I guess.

Please remember that 2 years ago SE was in the red, the big one, FFXIV 2.0 was the last hope of this studio to avoid more loss. FFXIV is a miracle, it could have never come back. Now that their are finally making money and do great things, people are not happy so what do you want ? SE is in a phase where they need money to strengthen their position and their results. Plus to all of you who are unhappy with this cash shop, SE is not the 1st to do it, then no one force you buy in game goodies and emotes. So if you don't want to spent more money you don't have to. If I was thinking like you, i'll be like : why do 1.0 player have laurel gobbue and legacy chocobo and not the other? we also contribute to the game frome 2.0...

This also a way to reward players that play the game since longer than you do.

Lol, I can't believe people are saying "At least we can get it!", that's called settling for crap, we know the other alternative solution is "Put them in the game for gil at a vendor" which means we get it without having to pay more money for it. It's not unheard of for this game, the rabbit kabutos in my characters' inventories speak otherwise.

Have the people who are saying "We payed for it 15 a month back then so we deserve it for free while you have to pay for it!" even thought about people who just didn't know the game existed prior til recently? The argument of "Well, you could've payed for it and gotten it then" doesn't even apply, because there was no conscious choice of "I don't care for these items, I'll save my 15 bucks this month". Not to mention, you were paying for the sub, not the yukata. Players now have to pay extra on top of their sub on the off chance that they missed it.
