So this is some personal opinions with the current status of WoW. If you have not heard about the sub status of wow being around 5.6 million subscribers(with free to play tokens) and these numbers are from July 1st so with the continued drop since then im assume easily they are in the high 4 million today.

I can see FFXIV eclipsing wow sub numbers this year or soon(tm). So I am hoping you guys are cooking some AMAZING stuff for 3.1 that will give blizzard in the stomach while its down. You can't argue that some WOW players are flooding to 14 because all in all it is just a better experience than the crap that blizzard puts out at the moment.

What SE (has been) and publishers in general nowadays to do is not worry about how to deal the next big blow to WoW but to create a game that their playerbase thoroughly enjoys. I could care less if it deals a huge blow to Blizzard and they lose x amount of subscribers to (Insert game here) if the content isn't something that I enjoy. I imagine if we as a gaming community quit with the "for WoW" or "against WoW" camps that developers across the board will start putting out more original and meaningful content and we'll all be better off for it.

Honest question.

Why would you want to kill a game people still enjoy? I'm asking this seriously, because I'm still not happy with City of Heroes shutting down, and I would never willingly wish that on any other gamer who enjoys the game they play.

I've played WoW pretty much for the past 10 years consistently. I used to love the game, but Blizzard gutted it with the release of Warlords of Draenor. The game feels more like a chore then when it was fun. I started to dread logging in. Between garrisions, LFR, and the complete annihilation of professions I finally quit. A co-worker of mine introduced me to FF14 and I have really been enjoying myself. I am only level 33 but the game reminds me of old school WoW, back when it was fun. I have not seen any end game, but I really hope FF14 has some good pvp, and raids. I am loving the dungeons so far!

I hope they don't rush anything out to appeal short-term. They're currently building off of the back of word of mouth. If they suddenly try to add things to get people to join from WoW then they may do so at the expense of players already playing.

I do wish the demise of a game of people do enjoy, because they support a company by pulling this crap with 5.4/WoD, so yeah kick em in the head while theyre down. Blizzard deserves it. And as for the content in ffxiv im not giving SE suggestions i have faith in them to blow our socks off.

Don't count on it. The devs are too scared to do anything outside the "safe" zone(we'll be getting the same content patches we've been having since 2.0).

But yeah, I am not sure if SE deserves more subscribers when they can't even cater to their current playerbase. It seems like lots of people are kinda bored with HW (realm reborn reborn).

One day, a newer MMO will come out with better things and the people on the forums will say,

"It's time <insert dev> kick FFXIV on the stomach when they're down. It's high time that game goes down looking at their contents. I quit it after <insert expansion name> when they destroy the game."

I hope Blizzard brews up something good for WoW or some other game (Hearthstone is one of them) or there will be one less competition to drive things forward.
