No theres no real rule. But for what other purpose would they even put the filter there.
yes it can be fun but the experiences Ive had is
"Hi!"
My 3 party members: "salut"
Rest of the dungeon is full of chatter in french.
Im one of those few players who like to socialise and have fun when doing dungeons. And chances are bigger ill find others with the same mindset if they all speak the languages they tick
I once waited 3 hours in queue for Turn 3. Nobody does T3

I tell all my french friends to tick all language, no matter if they speak english or not!
Why would one intentionally get longer queue time because they don't speak english and get paired to a smaller user pool. If it's bother you just use {Please use the auto-translate function.}
If you still are not happy with it, use PF![]()
I tick all languages for faster queues, figuring that since I know the mechanics, language issues would not be my fault. Then again, I don't have a problem with silent parties, or parties full of chat that I can't understand.
You're living in quite an ideal world, right? While this is certainly right for most encounters if every person knows what to do it is not if you got a new player who hasnt got an idea of what do to (or a certain amount of skill to figure mechanics out fast enough). Its even getting worse with a new tank (or heal) who has no clue about their roll and how to play it...
I'm german and I really dislike it when people write german in chats where english(speaking) people are aroung. Its not about being "xenophobic" its about those people are acting extremly unpolite and ignorant. I really dont believe that I have to set up a pf to fing english-speaking people to run dungeons with - havent we all agreed on english being some sort of a world-language that everyone should be able to communicate in (at least a little bit)? Each time a french person says "salut" as greeting I could cry (I'm exaggerating ofc) - does it hurts so bad to say "hi" instead?
I was running SV normal with a friend once - we got paired up with two french people - I, as tank, checked the french healers gear and decided to take it slowly because of that. After the first two groups they started to make fun of that in party chat - and in french ofc. To bad for them that my friend actually does speak french and translated for me - so I started to pull as much as I could - and magically the healer did speak english! I've made that experience quite a few times - french people refuse to speak english unless they really, really have to - so please, dont call me xenophobic because of a behavior of other that should be considered rude and unpolite...
(on a sidenote: most of the germans I encountered who doesnt speak english are kinda poor with german aswell... its no excuse, I know, but it was kinda difficult to communicate with them in their own language already...)

I totally see what you're saying and there's nothing wrong with preferring to play with players who speak the same language (I fall into the same camp!), but its not cool to want to punish other players because they have a different preference than youNo theres no real rule.
