I lost my motivation, Can you help me find it?

I'm not gonna bottle this up anymore, I've got to say something...


I went into this expansion expecting to get at least a little more variety, the core of past problems fixed, something to show that square aren't lazy.

I was wrong.

Nearly every design decision in the expansion thus far with end game content has left me with less and less reason to play.

So I'm gonna list them.



Gold Saucer
For something that came out in ARR final days this sure died quickly didn't it?
And with good reason, why should anyone bother with MGP anymore?

To get the cloud card so they can win more MGP in TT?
To get Fenrir, when there's no point now with flying mounts?

They brought out no new prizes in the expansion! NOTHING! Not even a new hair style! I play Elezen and we got two hair styles from the expansion (Seriously guys race-locking content AGAIN!?)

Bring out better prizes, then we'll talk once I get a break from the roulette grinding of those two dungeons (Oh boy! Two choices in a roulette! Such variety!)



PvP
I know I'm not the only one unhappy with the decision to strip the 100/110 gear of its rank requirements looking at the forums,
why on earth did square think it was a good idea to punish the PvP community,
the community that played their broken PvP and waited for hours in their GC restricted queue times when no one else would.

Shame on you Square Enix.

You've taken all the time people spent waiting in queues to obtain that PvP glamor and made it naught.

Why on earth would I want to do PvP now?
So you can waste my time again?
No.

(I don't even like your new healer gear glamor anyway.
Its just another bland robe again.)



Housing
This has been happening for a long time now and its still gonna keep happening, because square love to give housing items out every patch (And season event) and sweeping the fact there are not enough houses under the rug.

Is square so blind to the fact that 70% of servers don't even own/belong to a FC house let alone a personal one? All these housing items and no one will ever use them!

And enough with the lack of servers excuse guys...
This isn't a F2P, its a Subbed MMO, if they got the resources to make stuff like the FC workshops then they can damn well make more wards!

So why should I keep saving up my gil?
I've been saving for medium house for a long time now, so long in fact that I can buy two medium houses with the gil I now have and I don't even craft!

Speaking of which...



Crafting
Oh boy.. Here comes the big one.

This is by far the biggest let down, from gated gear to no variety of glamors, from Micro transaction retainers to useless & unbalanced desynthesis classes.

The crafting system as it is right now is completely VOID to me. There is no reason to do it, no end goal for it.

Lets start with the gear, why on earth would you want to get BiS crafting right now anyway?

To Craft!
Which will help you?
Make gil!
Which will help you?
To Craft more things!
Which will....
MAKE MOAR GIL!

Can you see where I'm going with this?


As of now, there is no craftable raid gear,
No point saving gil for housing, because there is no housing, (No point making housing items)
No point crafting for glamors, because they're all RE-SKINS. (For most anyway)

Besides food and pots,
What is seriously the point of 50-60 crafting right now?

The only use I got out of it was using the items I made to level desynthesis in GSM and WVR, which helped me make alot of gil from breaking down items from expert roulette.
ALC on the other hand got completely shafted, it is quite literally the most useless desynthesis in the game right now.
They should of made AST weapons ALC type, since the cards floating on them were most likely drawn with ink and with GSM bloated with WHM, BLM staffs and 99% of all accessories, why does GSM seriously need another class weapon type?!?

Lastly, was I the only one shocked that we didn't get a 3rd free retainer with all the new craft mats?

So let me get this straight, if everyone went and got the micro transaction retainers the server would crash?
I'm not buying it, its just greed IMO.





I would also post some stuff about the none existence variety of glamor in this game, but I've posted enough about that on the forums now as it is.

I don't care if everyone thinks I'm wrong or thinks I'm a whiner.
This was my experience of the expansions end game and its something I had to get off my chest.

EDIT: I just want to thank people for the positive responses, I do enjoy the game, it just saddens me to see Square let the game have these problems and not deal with them after so many threads have been made about them.

Whether people agree with OP or not, those are all valid and frustrating gripes. Somehow, I doubt anything will ever change though. Two years now of the same patterns.

Honestly my biggest issue with the expansion is that it added no new gameplay systems.

If you look at most other MMOs, their expansions typically add a entire new type of content that hadn't been seen in the game before. All Heavensward added was more of the exact same content and many people were already getting tired of that repetitive cycle. The only really new thing was the flying mounts but the only purpose it serves is as a quality of life improvement getting you from A to B faster; you can't actually do anything new with a flying mount.

We need some new kind of content that gives players something different to work towards and that will shake up the current typical play session. That is normally something that comes with expansions yet this expansion honestly just felt like a really really big patch.

Are you looking for motivation or attention?

Of course they will give you reason to go back to the saucer eventually. Do you really expect them to let it die out like that? No one is going there right after the expat, so why dedicate resources to it? Expect expensive flying mounts eventually.

Housing, more is coming. It's been stated. Once again, further down the priority list from actually game play. You will get your housing grind.

Has there ever been a point to crafting other than to make more Gil? What? The repair feature? Or making your own pots or food? I agree with the devs decision to make crafted equipment bis. I bet the Gil sellers took a hit there. And it doesn't force people to get millions for a few accessories.

Anyway have fun with batman.

While it won't stop me from playing a bit more variety would not hurt.
The addition of esoteric basically removed incentive to do any other content besides glamour.

Nobody can help you.If you think that FF XIV isnt good for you(atleast not now),than wait for future update and play again if you think SE deserves your money.I hope you will find back to FF XIV
