WoD started with no raids and the HM dungs were complete rehashes of the leveling dungs, not sure what she is talking about.
It's easier to get tapped-out right now vs AAR because of the initial ilvl overload. Get to 145 --> some 160 dungeon --> law --> primal ex --> alex --> alex savage / Eso gear....all within a very short time frame. In ARR you could always work on relics if you got tired of tome grinding (which i'm sure HW will follow with as well).
Plus, you just KNOW that if you plan on doing the new relic you're going to be farming dungeons (possibly alex) again anyways, so the drive for Eso gear isn't as high right now for me at least until we see what the new relic chain is like
This month is my 4th month I'm playing FF14, I have the burn out feeling too. That's why I'm not really rushing for lvl 60 gear now, just do with my own pace.
Right now I'm lvling my crafting and gathering class and I still have lots unfinished side quest from ARR, I will complete them all with my other class, and I will slowly complete other content too like treasure hunt and sight seeing.
Unlike before right now I'm not bother to complete my daily roulette or weekly cap because busy with my work, somehow I'm bit enjoy doing something like this, don't give a sh*t to your surroundings just do what you feels fun for you.
Problem with this is that with all the daily bonuses and weekly caps, the game pressures you into treating it like a job. God forbid I don't feel like playing on Wednesday, but then that just increases my workload on Thursday.Typically, burn out is attributed by not going at the pace you can handle I.E. Your own pace.
Usually we push ourselves to the brink of burn out because we all want instant gratification or want to reach the end as fast as possible (Human nature). I would just take a break, play another game or do something wildly different to relieve yourself of the burn out and eventually, your passion for the game will return.
There's another thread on the forums discussing a similar topic. In short, Final Fantasy XIV lacks endgame content. It's either extremely easy and boring, or incredibly hardcore. I have no problem with the hardcore stuff except that I don't have a static at the moment. It's not the difficulty of the content but the lack of variety. Like someone mentioned earlier, once you "farm" Ravana Ex, there's no challenge left. Farming dungeons is boring, farming Alex EZ is boring, Hunts are barely active anymore. People have reverted to farming ponies to stay busy and even those parties don't fill up. I just looked at the PF on Cactuar and it's very dead. Outside of daily roulettes and getting your weekly Alex loot, unless you're in a static, you're done for the week.
We need more variety. I don't understand why the developers make all these content to then not be used at all. We need more variety to farm tomes. Why not have all the dungeons that are lv 50 and up be synced to whatever average the party's item level is, and increase the damage and hp of the mobs inside. To add insult to injury when esoterics got released I was dismayed but not surprised to see that Aetherochemical Research Facility didn't award you with esoterics, so now we have another dungeon with great music totally being wasted unless someone is doing it for he story.
I just don't understand why limit the options if we have to grind these things.
Im spending most of my time in ARR and only got into HW to do the roulette or hunts.

Just dont farm the same thing all day, change it up every 30 mins or so. I do mining, skin farming, throw in a few ravana runs, alex farms all in like 2 hrs. Makes it seem less of a chore
I'm not bother about that anymore, actually it feel really nice because you're not bound by anything and just do what ever you like with your own pace. It's different if you're hardcore player and have less RL commitment.
