I want to be on an international server. It's one of the reasons I bought the game. Although I wouldn't want to see them seperated, I guess it doesn't matter if people don't want to interact. I suppose if they gave the option, at least I would know that all the people on my server want to interact with other cultures.

Copy Paste + Google Translate has gotten me out of most language barrier jams.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I would be interested to see one at least TESTED. Mostly to see if having a server in North America would alleviate some of the UI or responsiveness of the controls and the game in general. I didn't realize all the servers were actually in Japan until news of the earthquake hit.

This. Many JP parties run extremely well for me with Google Translate.

Many of my friends are from different corners of the world, and as such I speak multiple languages. Setting up region-based servers would make me a sad cat, nor does it seem very practical.

Sorry to burst your bubble but if it were to happen it is most likely that the server would still be located in Japan as SE doesn't have a datacenter in the US and I doubt they'd invest money in that direction for just 1, or maybe 2, temp servers.

I'm kinda for it. Just because I'm not a fan of asking someone something and then being told they don't speak English. Or Someone asking me something and me not having any idea what they are saying.

I guess I'm just used to all English servers. Its definitely not game breaking tho. I dealt with it in XI and ill deal with it now. =)

My main reason for starting this thread is because there is a similar thread in the Japanese forum. Stating mainly that they are constantly hounded by foreign RMT's and is the main reason Japanese players started avoiding playing with Foreign players in FFXI. Also because of various culture differences, such as cooperation, respect, etc. I am explaining that I have no such problem on my server (or very little of it), and hope to never see it.

    Hi Reika,

I've been following the Japanese thread as well but haven't posted there yet.

I do think that the problems people have stated are more of the exception than the norm, but they tend to get amplified on internet forums.

The thing that concerns me most is the feeling that some English speaking players are 独善 (self righteous) which is also not true much of the time.

On Saronia there have been a few isolated "incidents" that I know of, but for the most part I think people are pretty good about playing with people from other countries and across language barriers.

when you say foreign... do you mean English? Any time I've been talked to by an RMT.. its been in broken English. I think its because English is the most common used language.
