LINK (very bottom)So, again, if they already said in the past they were going to add first the simple transportation, and in the future the full travel part, I missed it. I read a lot of things, and there's much heat in Thanalan, so that's possible!
Could someone provide a link with this information, please? PrettyPrincess, do you remember?
And if this was already answered in the past, my thanks to anyone who could provide a link.
LINK 2
I swear there was another post somewhere further explaining this, but I could be mistaken... I'll be on the lookout.
EDIT: Ah, found it already! Added it above. Many thanks to Reinheart for those translations, as usual. <3

While you do sort of have a point, all the same I feel there's more to gain by doing so than there is to lose.
Besides that..
- I haven't actually been able to find the assurance this is only temporary. While I'd love it if someone pointed me to it instead of reiterating it, it's still entirely possible that if it stays buried, it'll be forgotten. These things benefit from being pushed.
EDIT: Oh, hey Chrees added links up above. Thanks. That said.. my priority concerns stand, what with us never seeing an official translation of that and it not being the most reassuring of posts in the first place and all. Oh well, maybe it'll be put in here by the mod's if they take an interest in this topic.- The producer letter does not reaffirm this assurance while talking about a feature it would have a significant effect on. In my (admittedly somewhat limited) experience with these things, that means it's either very low priority, or they're actively trying to downplay it. Either way, not a good thing, benefits from being pushed.
- Why is "I would like to restate my wish to actually ride the airships, rather than their just being a teleporter with a thematic cutscene" crying?
There's a fine line between feedback and whining .. but it's frankly a moot one given, aside from when a post is rude, a whining post is simply irrelevant rather than actively damaging. What matters is making the developers aware of how wanted a feature is, and keeping them aware. If enough people do as I've done, perhaps they'll increase it's priority, or keep it out of the 'corners to cut if we run short of resources' bin.
Either way, in the end, so what if it's "QQ"? Does it seriously do more harm than good to politely and regularly, in appropriate places such as this thread, point out how much I would like particular features?
Oh I'd certainly agree were someone writing something along the lines of, 'omfg cutscenes ****ing suck give real rides NOW' the result might be negative. Lord knows, I'd not want that sort of reply "supporting" any feature request I made; that really might put someone influential off having anything to do with it.
But 'Please let us *really* ride airships', or 'Please, don't consider cutting back on the vehicle rides, but rather iterate on them and use them to offer us interesting content'? That's perfectly valid feedback, even if they have said 'We'd like to do that at some point down the line,' especially when the developers haven't said as much again when the issue came up in a much more weighted context, such as the producer letters.
In choosing what features to add to a game, priority is very important, and often determined by how much the developers perceive the community wants that feature, and how they believe that feature's influence will change their product's perceived value. So it really can't hurt (except in the eyes of those who don't want what you do, and they've just as much right to politely say why in reply) to just say, in appropriate threads, how much you would like a particular feature.
Sorry, long ramble over, but.. yeah. 'Whining/QQ/whatever' is, in my opinion, a really overblown issue and an often unfairly applied complaint. At worst, posts that actually are just whining are irrelevant and will be disregarded by those who matter. What's actually problematic is possibly valid suggestions and criticism rudely or illegibly delivered, or those who might have good points making themselves look as if they lack insight by attacking other members of the community.
Anyway, thanks for the measured response, but I guess I'd rather not keep on discussing so.. I'm out of this sub-topic. Probably the topic at large and all, now I've said what I wanted to. Thanks for reading the wall.

I like it. Haha, they should go full blown homage and have a mid-cutscene "random encounter" like screen fade haha.Heya!
I bet this is a cool feature and has to be enjoyed, but I'd like to see how the Cutscenes will occupy our time.
Also, like this it will be possible to have air pirates attacks in a random factor, so the Cutscenes will change and when the enemy is defeated we'll see another cutscene, and then we land.
Without Enemies:
Depart Cutscene -> Landing Cutscene
With Enemies:
Depart Cutscene -> Incoming Enemies Cutscene -> No More Enemies Cutscene -> Landing Cutscene
What do you think about it?
See ya!

Why are people complaining that you can't look down and see the world? I thought everyone hated the current world maps. Would be stupid to create the content for a ride before they change the maps.

First, they will probably have personal airships in the future. If they don't that would be so very disappointing. You guys will get tired of seeing the samething over and over so **** that 7 min ride. That's one of the things I hate about 11 and the boat ride is even worse.

I was totally looking forward to walking around on deck and looking out over the land. (Perhaps even encountering some enemies on-board, even if it was only a 5 min flight or so.)
Now I don't really care if they add airships or not. If I can't really ride them, I won't bother. :<
I don't like instant travel as it is, and we already have that.
If they will allow us to ride airships someday, I'll ride them then.
As for right now.. I guess I'll continue to look forward to chocobos.

Disappointed too. Eorzea will look so beautiful from the air.
After the tenth time of having to sit through it for several minutes, the amazing scenery ends up taking a backseat to your handheld of choice. Instant travel can be just as boring, though.

The thing I worry about now is that since SE has once again given people a form of instant transportation, it might piss a lot of people off if they change it and make it longer.
So.. they might just choose not to change it.
Like anima. ._. They gave convenience, and they could not take it back.
People will fight tooth and nail to keep convenience.

Well, one would hope that when they do remove the convenience, they'll have the wisdom to take it with one hand and give additional content (special battles and shops, notorious monster attacks, etc) with the other. The thing I worry about now is that since SE has once again given people a form of instant transportation, it might piss a lot of people off if they change it and make it longer.
