The complexity of this game is going down the tubes.
Good for people too lazy to learn/figure things out,
Bad for anyone wanting depth in a game.

I disagree.
There is always a deeper level of complexity even in the simplest things.
Take Super Mario Bros for example.
Mario only has a jump move, but a skilled player knows just how to use that basic jump in multiple ways for various situations. And the same can be said for many other games.
Street Fighter pretty much has basic kicks, punches, and jumps.
But in the hands of a pro the battle looks far more complex.
Only one of those three is permanently gone.
Are you still sad about the loss of stamina?
Complexity does not necessarily equate to depth. We're still in a transitory phase. Depth is coming later.

My Threads: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/s...vBForum_Thread
I'll take depth & complexity in the right places that add to my enjoyment of the game. Not in the places where it just creates an annoyance. The latter results in players getting fed up & leaving, new players coming in and thinking "Wow, this game sucks" and quickly leaving, etc.
That's an exaggeration physical levels and free skill point allotment were not what I'd call complex or hard to figure out.
Battle Regimens (or a similar cooperative type combat system) are an absolute necessity for any decent MMO, but fortunately those are returning. Sooner rather than later if we keep up pressure on them I hope.
You just said you wanted battle regimens to be tweaked a bit and then say the game is becoming less complex...
And the "systems being removed" in your OP have replies:
Battle Regimens - Will be back and improved upon.
Physical Levels - Made lvling lower ranked classes too easy and made switching from melee to mage a pain.
The ability to allocate stat points - Will be back in 1.20
No offense but did you read the part where BR's and stat allocations were coming back?
I really would prefer they refined what we had rather than completely gut things over and over.
Make way for the new and better systems![]()
I hate games where you need to allocate the points yourself. Ends up being too... 'buildy', for want of a better description.
That aside, the implementation of those systems in FFXIV was really just terrible anyways. There really wasn't anything to give you a sense of what your stats and elements were actually doing, and because it was tied to a global physical level you were essentially chained to a specific category of classes, defeating the whole 'one character, multiple classes' aspect.
You could reallocate your stat points, but not all at once and there was a large cooldown on it, so it took a very long time and you were stuck with half-assed stats for both the class you were changing from and the class you were changing to during the entire transition period. Even if it was made to be all at once, it would still be tied to a global physical level and thus fall in with the other 'as close to X without being X' systems we've currently got(e.g. market wards).
I am personally happy that Physical levels are being abolished and 1.20 will bring them back for class specific, i think that is a good move, doesnt make low leveling too easy and also removes that pain in the bum swapping melee to mage and vice versa, which was a mega turn off for me, as i am a fan of job systems like FFXI where i could be what i wanted when i wanted to.Down with ps2 limita.... wrong game... down with physical lvls! xD
