MB on Zalera is quite bad actually. iLvl 115-120 costs close to half a million, if not over a million gil. some stuff even around 30-50 million. I've been sitting in queue for roughly 2 hours trying to do raids for Tomestones, since the only thing I have access to for roulette's is main scenario. high lvl dungeons needs Keeper of the Lake, which is unlocked in 2.5's MSQ's.

And since I've done all the MSQ's up to near the end of 2.4, I'm gonna have to get all iLvl 120 gear, just to manage the quest I'm stuck on. :| Sucks that the NPC's are taking so much dmg so quickly...but it's no worse than Illberd. Dude's squisher than a Dark Knight. >.>

...I'm quite surprised myself, and Excalibur as a Legacy server used to sport some steep prices. This takes it to an entire new level though.

Speaking of the quest, the Echo will also kick in should you attempt it multiple times in a row. As others have noted, focus on dispatching the enemies and keep an eye out for those (casters, the claws, and so on) who may alter the flow of battle by healing the opposition or slowing down/debuffing/locking out some of your allies - you mostly need to hold up the fort until the shinobi come in to help, then it should be relatively smooth sailing.

As a PLD, I made judicious use of my CDs as I went from a wave to the next. I would imagine "pure" DPS would need to keep on the move to minimize additional damage - mind the mission borders, as well.

The whole ordeal is arguably easier with ilvl100+ equipment, but you just need a good weapon and accessories... and a modicum of patience, the reinforcements are meant to mess with your planning and positioning.

makes me wonder, if people are still buying gil more and more to cause such an inflation of prices. :| I mean, there's some iLvl 90-100 gear that costs almost a million gil.

I've always had problems with targeting enemies, and it's even more so with trying to find the one to take down first. If I can take the healer down swiftly, before the other adds spawn, I shouldn't have much issue, but half the NPC's are nearly dead before the second and third waves spawn. By then, Illberd is down to about 70-80% health.

The Shinobi show up, and we've got waves 3 and 4. Illberd is down to 30% health, cause all enemies zero in on him, and he's dead before I know it. :| I'm working on farming Tomestones, to get all iLvl 120 gear and hope it helps me out. Otherwise, I'll try getting a better cure spell, and attempt to keep him alive here and there.

My woman couldn't beat this on scholar with max echo. She switched to bard at breezed through it. Kill in order Medicus, centurion, claws, aquilifier, sagitarius, hoplomachus, colossus, then extra adds then just zerg eline with npc members. Don't aoe most of the fight.

The main story gives you most of ilvl90-115 gear prior to this fight.

Fellow WHM, who also sucks, Reporting for Duty. OMG I hated this quest.

I tried so many different tactics. None worked.. But once I had max echo I Leroy'ed and it worked. Here is what I did:

After I got max echo. I ran to the center and HOLY'ed my ass off. Only stopping holy if there were less than 3 mobs. and focused them down with stone 2.

Pop your mana regen after 2-3 holys. and keep popping that mana regen as soon as it is up.

I was just about OOM and what's his face was about to die. AGAIN! when she finally died.

just pull everything to her and Holy your ass off.

Now here is the thing.. I had to win this fight TWICE!!! I beat it twice with this tactic. You see right after I completed the duty. My internet went down.

3 hours later it came back up and I had to do it ALL over again. Thankfully I still had full Echo and the Holy tactic worked again.

    Good luck.

I did all the MSQ's up to Reason prior to patch 3.0 though, so I can't get any decent gear, other than sitting in queue for a raid, that I constantly die in. :| Worst part, is there was a decent choker on the MB for around 30k, but it's gone now. Only other one, is close to 50k, and everything else, is around 100k to a million. >.>

My original plan, was to run Lab, or Bahamut Coils, for the Tomestones, but the wait times for those, are roughly more than an hour or two. WoD is fairly short wait times, but I'm still learning the mechanics of those fights. :|

edit: earlier today, an Imperial Regiement attempted to rescue their spy, known as Roaille, or "Ivy". But before they could rescue her, they encoutered an unexpected setback. Survivors of the encounter, had this to say in regards to facing the wrath, of one very irate Dragoon: "WHARRGARBL!!"

translation: I finally managed to beat the adds down, and Illberd was sitting above 30% health, while Ivy was around 10% and after a few hits, she surrendered. I can now move on, to 2.5 and hopefully to Ishguard before long. A HUGE, HUGE thank you, to anyone and everyone, who helped me with tips and hints. The gear helped a LOT!

What really bugs me is that NPCs fighting on your side dont count as members of you group.

This really sucks in healer-jobquests... i did the jobquests 52-60 with my SCH and the only new skill i could use was the new damage spell. All other spells simply won't work, no AoE-Heals for example. And my Fairy WON'T heal them ever, screw you fairy.

You have to erase debuffs of NPCs, else the duty fails? Then give us an options to watch the stati of NPCs other than selecting him. If I remember right there is no "shuffle though NPCs"-button, just an "shuffle though all selectable stuff"- or an "select next npc"-button. So I have to click on them to select them?! I don't like that.
My fairy got an action to remove debuffs, but as i said.. fairy won't react on NPCs.

You and the helping NPCs (like this Marodeur-Lalafell in SCH-jobquests) should feel more like a real group with you as their healer.

Glad you managed to overcome them! Congratulations for your hard work, it paid off.
