Lack of party invites and more

Hey, forgive me if its just me who feels this way but no-one ever talks on the servers, or invites to parties. I can sit and shout all day for a party invite and linkshell invite in Uldah and yet will have no replies. I miss FFXI and how everyone wanted to be playing the game together and helping each other. So far FFXIV has felt like a single player game to me and other friends who have purchased.

Has anyone else noticed this or is there a specific time of day when people actually shout for parties and iv missed it?

I don't think its just you dude. I play at all sorts of times and i see maybe 1-2 PT shouts a day (only in Uldah) and only for rank 40+. Since release ive played on maybe 4 different servers and characters and its pretty much the same on all of them. I just started on Gysahl with a friend, shes very outgoing, overly friendly and constantly waves and tries to talk to people or help them if they're in trouble. Since we started she's had maybe 3 out of 20 people even acknowledge her existance. The only LS shouts i see are in Japanese and...Spanish i think it is, im not too sure lol.

I find that unless you wear the same LS as another person they will generally not regard you in the slightest because at this point the community has sort of formed cliques. Now and then you'll meet that rare gem of a player who reaches out to others just when you need it, but it seems not many here are prepared to take that risk. I dont think its people being unfriendly, its just that upon the games release, the community was kind of conditioned in to this and i honestly think that by PS3 release we will see a lot of changes.

Until then its very difficult to find a pleasant social aspect, every LS ive been in has fallen apart or had some MASSIVE drama showdown. LS that shout in citys for members grow very fast but can sometimes have people that bring the whole group down, or be very unwelcoming to fresh blood, from my experience anyway. Others have websites or are a bit more personal with new recruits, you could try looking on community websites for Gysahl server where people are recruiting for their shells, i think you'll find some of them to be a lot more welcoming and lively.

^ Omg, it's awful isn't it? I must wave to about four or five people a day, and almost all of them ignore me, people seem to be more polite during Japanese prime-time, at least I get acknowledged then.
It's a horrible comedown from FFXI, it was meeting a new person a day and just generally having fun with other people, not this grueling EXP grind, although that was certainly an element of it, there was so much more socialising going on. Now without party invites, you don't even get to meet new people, in fact, Misha is still the only person on my friendlist.

Noone helps either, I was doing a quest in Black Shroud not long ago, and kept getting one-shotted by high level mobs, I asked a passerby if they knew a different route to a certain place and I got completely ignored; unless you're part of someone's linkshell, they'll completely ignore you. Making new friends was one of the best things about FFXI and now it's just completely gone ;-;.

I don't know if PS3 release will do anything anymore, it may just bring on another wave of ignorant people who already have their cliques formed before they join the game. Still, it'd be nice to think that friendly people will join on PS3 release day, and if they do, I'll be very glad to socialise and help them O:
Finding an LS that isn't horribly drama filled or just boring became such challenge to Misha (Orca) and I that we decided to form out own Linkshell, maybe it'll work out that way. >_>

People seem so surprised when I talk to them. Lol... Perhaps we should all work together to get the community to open up a bit?

It's important for the community to have a bond, just as important as rebuilding XIV in general. The community needs to change with it or it wont matter how great the game is with no inviting souls about the world.

That's why this game retains such few players. It's extremely inacessible for the most part, the majority of players don't even speak the same language as you. Just as it has been since release, the game is far more of a chore to play than it is fun.

I shout a lot on Wutai in Ul'dah. I have lots of people/friends I talk to from all kinds of linkshells. Also several vents @.@ it's rough sometimes have so many people who want to talk. But everyone on of them are awesome, they seem to actually put up with my crap. Maybe one one day they'll kick my little Red Wizard lalafel behind.

But it's the ups and downs of being the ONLY (self-proclaimed) Red Wizard on the Wutai server.

I'm like Shyd, I'd wave, poke, pose, something lol. I like to help people when I can, but as far as pt shouts ect. our LS usually goes out each other.

There are always party shout in Ul'dah, but in JP.
