So the whole debacle was based off some random DPS-wannabe tank who simply said "Tanks will need to dps harder becuz Yoshi P said so" without the actual proof of said quote anywhere to be seen. It's just an echo room of DPS-wannabe tanks at this point who can't justify their use of STR accessories as MAIN TANKS other than "someone said the dev said so".
Mmmkay
100% wrong here bud. The whole argument for using STR or pentamelded accessories is to push your role to the maximum that it can do. This was a thing before any mention of DPS check adjustments for content.
Paladins are not that far behind Warriors in straight DPS. However, in a fight like Ravana EX, Warriors have a significant advantage because they can save their cooldowns for Liberation phases to double or triple Fell Cleave. Paladins, on the other hand, get all their DPS from sustained attacks so they can't take advantage of vulnerable moments like Liberation as well and their DPS drops harder than Warriors when a fight has multiple untargetable phases (i.e. boss jumps).Yeah, there's that, too. He/She is a WAR, and I'm trying to compute what he's/she's saying from a PLD perspective. Still, I recall SwO PLDs being not that far behind from WAR pre-3.0. Are Fell Cleave and Deliverance THAT good ? The nerf bat is definitely eventually coming to them if that is the case.
ITT a bunch of Bads try to foist their Badness off on other players.
Can someone please clarify why tanks care about dps so much when their main job should be tanking? Why not leave the dpsing up to the dps classes which is what a dps is supposed to do.
Let's be honest here, the "pushing to the limits" excuse at this point is pretty moot.
As of now, no content REQUIRES the extra HP from vit accessories NOR the extra damage from str accessories.
What WILL be the deciding factor will be when Savage gets released and the highest ilvl gear accessible is only considered entry level. That is when we will all get a confirmation on whether the dev team is pushing for higher raid dps or for classes to do their own respective roles right much like how t5 on release was where 1 missed cooldown/preshield would 1 hit you in vit accessories.
The problem with STR tanks is they believe their numbers matter because they are higher now. What many fail to remember is that encounters now also have a higher hp pool. This means your dps increase of 100+ now is equivalent to a 30 or so increase in older encounters.
Because good tanks can properly tank fights while still maintaining significant dps numbers. It's all about efficiency and playing to the absolute limit of your abilities
So basically tanks are getting bored of tanking and finding new ways to entertain themselves. That's all I needed to know.
because if your group needs DPS X to beat content (before enrage or whatever) adding more of your DPS to the group means everyone else does not have to push as hard or it goes faster.
As Vitality doesn't actually reduce any of the incoming damage and only gives you a bigger buffer it's the obvious stat to manage up and down as needed by the amount of spike damage you get
- Listen to the VIT supporters when you consider the merits of VIT. Listen to the STR supporters when you consider the merits of STR.
- Gear for best-case scenario in a static. Gear for fault tolerance in a PUG.
- If you need the tank VIT to survive current content, your healers fail. If you need the tank dps to clear current content, your DPSx4 all fail. (BTW you never fail as you are always right and it's always someone else's fault.)
- Go VIT if you want/need to help your healers. Go STR if they don't want/need your help.
- Play WAR if you want to be the most help to your raid dps because PLDs are officially stated to do lower dps. In the same situation WAR will always give better dps. So if you want to contribute the most dps to your party, do not play a PLD.
