Yeeee~ah.... saving whole inventories to the disk every 15s is insanely excessive. All because someone somewhere cried once about having lost some crafted item. I'd say it's much rarer than a character with a house, but it seems SE loves to cater to these special <1%s.

No wonder they're having performance issues, both with file storage and with network. Increasing that autosave to 1m, or even 2, would take a lot of stress off their servers while still being reasonable for that "gods forbid one person just happens to craft something super rare just when a server crashes and thus losing it" argument.

After being fed the "reasons" mentioned above (storage and network issues, in general) for why we can't have more inventory space, for months, only to get this shoved down our throats now - I mean, yeah, whatever, suddenly those issues don't exist if you just pay some extra, huh? Ew.
