Not everyone does that, though.
I'm with the OP. Item refunds within 2 hours is a pretty standard thing and can help save people from a lot of grief over a misclick.
How is it not a thing? Because SE shouldn't have to babysit and be responsible for player's actions.
Not to sound like an old man, but this generation needs to learn about responsibility and accountability. There's a confirmation window for purchase, so SE can't be blamed if you "mis-click". Own up to your mistake and deal with it. I'm tired of this generation blaming everyone but themselves. "It's always someone else's fault."
And before I get accusations of overreacting and it being "just a game" and a "quality of life" issue... all I can say to that is "First World Problems" and if this "problem" is such a big deal that you have to whine about it on the forums, then that doesn't bode well for outside the game.
since you aint really bout dis yoloswag life id appreciate if you kept your cloud yelling over there --->How is it not a thing? Because SE shouldn't have to babysit and be responsible for player's actions.

It's a really good idea that should be implemented for anything that requires spending currency that isn't gil. On a few occasions I accidentally bought the wrong item with seals for a different class and there is just nothing I can do.
I dont see a need for this, if you click the wrong item AND ignore the popup window then technicly you have only yourself to blame.
Besides if you make such mistake its not like the tomes cant be obtained again.
As it is, you can sell spirit bonded things or turn them in for GC seals. Any turn-in for a refund would have to deviate from the norm if it didn't accept things that were spirit bonded. While I think that people should just be careful and it's not needed, that particular issue would not crop up I think, otherwise you'd see it with glamour gear being passed around. Spiritbinding would be a simple block and it's already in the game. enter combat with it and it's locked until the end of time.
However, if it was programmed that way, I'd actually be on board with it. So if you really did just buy the wrong thing and never used it, you could return it and get the correct thing. As it stands, if the system gives you the wrong thing due to a slight mis-alignment of your mouse, you have to call a GM and jump through hoops for days.
Note that when you use gear for glamour, it does immediately bind it. Learned that the hard way.
About what level of response one would expect, lol
How about we petition SE to let us refund our XP too? You know, cause you might not like the class you leveled to cap, or someone might have "made a mistake" and thought when they were leveling DRK that they were leveling a DPS... >_>
There is something you can do though. Be more careful. Double check that what you're buying is what you want to buy. I always double check before I accept, I look at it for about 15-20 seconds (it does not take long) to make sure the stats are what I thought they would be, that I'm buying the right slot, that the jobs listed as under equipable by coincides with the job I want the gear for. This isn't some piece of obscure half information, everything is right there when you buy the item.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people are against every single change that could ever be implemented. Someone could suggest something as simple as "more mounts would be cool" and there would be someone adamantly opposed to such a thing.
Now if they are just taking the devils advocate point of view for the sake of discussion it would make sense, but it really doesn't seem that way. Do you really think this is absolutely pointless if it even exists in WoW? Somehow it made it through all the development discussion and implementation and QA, but it was a useless feature?
Nobody complains about this there and wishes it didn't exist.
Meh whatever though, nothing discussed here would ever make to the eyes of SE developers anyway.
Great advice to anyone who's ever made a mistake. There is something you can do though. Be more careful. Double check that what you're buying is what you want to buy.
