As a male gamer, thank you for not oversexualizing every female NPC

I do thank this game for not over sexualizing females, as well as, allowing the option to sexualize males. Honestly, this game has the best allowance of choice whenever you want to be skimpy, full body plated, amongst other things for both males and females. This is something I'll give the developer team kudos for.

i hope for the day when people don't get labeled for having their females characters wear revealing clothing. A day where you can just enjoy the style without being criticized for sexualizing your avatar. (which isn't it at all) The obsession with sexualization of everything in the west is toxic and every time i see a post like this i get disappointed. I enjoy a lot of the more revealing clothing since it has a little elegance and simplicity to it. where you see skin and sex i see beauty and nature. I think there should be a large variety of options, not limited because some people might be offended or feel the need to have some sort of false moral high ground.

I don't mind having sexy outfits on MMOs but I agree that when that's all the game is about, it's kinda sad. I'm glad that the developers keep FFXIV classy.

For every Korean MMO I played last few years, including Aion, Blade&Soul, ArcheAge they all had disturbingly oversexualized female toon. Most of them encouraging player to look up under their skirt, thanks to perv point view option. I appreciate the very controlled yet still sexy and high class character SE design.

The thing people are worried about is over sexualization? Has anyone else noticed the lack of character the races have compared to the FFXI counterparts? The original FFXI took a lot from classical makeup found in the likes of Wizard of Oz, while this game is taking it's inspiration from what appears to be anime conventions. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but the more animal like looks were more poetic in a way.

In a hobby industry where it's still super common for female characters to be overly sexualized, yeah, it's a legit worry. Notice how when FF Mobius for mobile was released, the male lead was incredibly sexualized and showing off his bod. The advertisements had him looking pretty steamy with his positions too. Then every gamer that for some reason fears men being presented that way for whatever reason cried out "FOUL!". His Western release got a huge face lift and he's now wearing more clothes. Yet if women cry out like that like they have been, they just get told "she's a strong, powerful woman! stop holding her back!"


So yeah, on topic with the thread, I agree. It is SUPER NICE that both genders of playable characters have a choice in their styling. That's true empowerment. And what's better is it can only be improved.

My favorite female NPC is the mining guild leader. Seeing her for the first time almost convinced me to switch to Highlander on the spot. Her and Moenbryda (sp? Forgive me D: ) are easily the two most gorgeous fem NPCs I have met thus far.

I love boobs as much as the next guy, but it gets to the point of insulting when game companies assume that's all we care about. Sure T&A isn't completely absent, but neither is it at annoying levels.

Arguably the best-looking female is Hilda. Beautiful without having to be revealing. Lucia wears full armor when female knights of other RPG's would be lucky to get even half the armor Lucia does.

...............And yet we have the bunny suit from gold saucer and the coatee from crafting.

While I do not want mages who look like hookers, (although the taffa gear does that) I feel that we should not cover mages in so much cloth that they drown in it and stop players expressing some fashion sense.
Take for example the past robes from final fantasy games, a V neck robe set such as Edea's dress from Final Fantasy 8 would be a great elegant addition to the lack luster choice of glamors currently in game.

Again, don't make stuff slutty, but do not let it stand in the way of elegant fashion either.

I honestly don't mind anyone's glamours and do like that NPC's in general are not overly sexualized. Whenever I make a female in an MMO I usually go for a mix of cute and sexy. Like not over the top in the sexy department cause I myself would not enjoy my female toon to walk around showing off 98% of herself. For me showing of the arms/mid-drift is sexy enough.

Pretty much look at my sig and that is the style of sexy/cute I like to represent if I make a female character. As a male character the most I'll expose is the chest area and even then I would try to find a top to cover most of the pectoral area.
