Usually find the opposite is true. Tanks rushing through, not waiting for people to explain mechanics. Then, once the group wipes (which will happen when not everyone knows the mechanics...) they pull again immediately. This happened to one of my groups in Alexander 4 yesterday and it's infuriating. The content has been out less than a day. Not everyone is gonna know what to do. Hell, that text that pops up at the beginning, the one telling you that you are getting extra tomes? That's not a "you're super special!" gift. It's because someone has never seen this content before.

    -----------------------------------

As for the topic at hand, what other people said:
    - Personal cooldowns
    - TP/MP regen

    Other possibilities include:
    - Looking up notes/quick video on the fight (if they've only done it once or twice if not entirely new)
    - Some random IRL thing (they get away with this because what are you gonna do? Pull without them?)

I'm in a rush because the 5 stacks of Wrath I built up at the end of the last encounter for the next pull wear after 30 seconds.

If I'm waiting at a boss it's because someone is new or not in the arena yet.

As a tank I try to keep the pace going unless I am waiting for something like others have said. But I usually explain why like TP, etc. Also for most things healer MP doesn't have to be full but based on what I am doing I will go by a 75% rule.

But as a DPS when there is no obvious reason for the tank to go slow I will pull. If I die oh well but that usually doesn't happen.

I main a tank. I also DPS. I can think of several legitimate reasons I may pause before a pull.

Boss fights: Hey uh, healer? I noticed you have Stoneskin, and you use Stoneskin, and currently other party members have Stoneskin, but I do not. ...Are... are you gonna...

Boss fights: The DF told us we have a new player in the party. I will explain the important mechanics. Now I will ready check to confirm you understand and are not currently typing out a "wait what do you mean by X" comment.

Trash pulls: DPS was too awesome and I had to spam _ to keep aggro OR DPS was terrible and that fight took forever so I am now pretty much out of TP/MP. (I had this problem as a fresh 50 with low gear. I stopped having this problem after a while. Immediately after hitting 60, with no Law to speak of yet? Had this problem again.)

Potentially any fight: ...That healer is sitting at like 30% MP and I do not love death.

Normally outside of raid I play tank in dungeons just for that reason. Slow pulling tanks drive me nuts. Only time you really need to stop is if someone is brb or if people need resources, other than that psh.

I as tank usually waiting for a while in front of the boss is for healer's mp, my mp or tp, someone's cutscenes, someone's who's got left behind, NIN mudra buffs.

Word leader like 2 side of coin :
    1. "Group" (like raid group) leader can be any job , because his job tell/assign what other ppl's should/have to do (and play his ingame "job" too of course ;P)
    2. "Leading the Way" thru dungeon (or raid no matter) is what i assume most ppl's meaning by call tank leader , can be performed only by player on Tank job because..... any dps or healer more likely will die when they encounter trash mobs or boss (etc.)

If the tank wasn't the leader he wouldn't be in the f2 slot (unless you are the tank) in the party :P!!!!!!

No but seriously. Do you really want the tank to start a fight / boss pull with only 150 tp? Or the Healer has 0 mana? If so you have to be okay with the repercussions. I actually have a friend that when he tanks, if the DPS or somebody pulls off of him or starts a fight without him he just sits there and waits for them to finish. Then He goes and does his own thing. IDK if it really teaches anybody a lesson or not but seriously. 30 seconds is no time at all.

As a warrior I Sometimes Just run into a fight (yes even boss fights)Because I have like 8 Seconds left on my 5 stacks. I've wiped once or twice because of it and have since learned that unless I'm with a fixed group it's WAAAAAAAY better to wait to make sure everybody is ready.

We all know that if the Tank starts and somebody else isn't ready it's the tanks fault.

Anyway, all of the elitism is unwarranted. It isn't as if everyone here is PVPing to compete for openworld Raid bosses or anything like that. Heck, most of us don't even pvp.
