still to see a FF w/o tech ,or tech vs magic , or tech as a way to use "magic"... is what makes FF so great , mixing both High fantasy with "sci-fi" in a way that makes sense.
I'm pretty sure that Alexander was a sealed Primal like Bahamut, possibly even an Eikon (which they recently made a distinction between that and primal).
It seems foreshadowed in the MSQ for sure.
They directly said that the Allagans had more sealed beings like Bahamut, and we should cautious because such dangerous things are out there waiting to be unsealed.
Lo and behold, the main raid of this expansion is primal that was seemingly trapped in a futuristic bubble.
It's not an Allagan raid, but this thing is definitely ancient and powerful enough to be sealed by the Allagans.
So it might have some differences with the Goblins as we know them now.
Well being that the barrier around Alexander probably wasn't just to keep us out gameplay-wise, he probably realised that it was a barrier to keep something locked away, and it wouldn't be the first time a Primal has had such happen (Bahamut being one in a way, and the essences of many of the other beastman Primals were apparently sealed away in Silvertear Lake prior to Midgar taking a explosive dive there.)I was honestly surprised there wasn't more story set up for Alexander...you get to the Hinterlands and you see where its supposed to be, you see all the goblins, and you go through it and no mention of the place whatsoever...you finish the story and the scene tacked on to the end basically has Cid going "Dag nabbit its a primal!", and me going "First, what the heck is it...and Second, how the heck do you know its a primal?"
since when fantasy is only limited to midage designs?
Final Fantasy XIII, FFVII etc. are far beyond "traditional fantasy".
And the alexander gear isnt sci fi at all.. it looks very mechanical... like alexander itself.. and like an old clock/or steam machine..
this is sci fi to you? ;XD Its the design of a damn steam machine. And so the gear
the gear of coil was much more sci fi alike.

Im sure somehow its gonna involve some allagan. They always do >_>
Actually, I bet it's something the Sharlayans cooked up. The illuminati goblins probably summoned the primal before but was sealed below the lake by the Sharlayans. There doesn't seem to be evidence in the area unlike Dalamud that the Allagians had any involvement in the area.
I don't like the gears >_< Law ones are cooler to me.
Music is really terrible... the armor style is alright but it's way too same-y. Would've been nice to see more of a distinction between the classes' armors.

"Well, it's no Vana'diel, but it'll have to do..."
Really goes to show how subjective ones taste in music can be because I really like it. In fact, it's maybe my favorite track.
The gear on the other hand...
