You know I should of never bought this expansion. I'm so bored trying to grind these quests out that I don't even want to log in anymore. Why do you even allow us to skip the cut scenes? Your model doesn't make sense. You allow us to spam through the quests and skip the scenes yet this is mandatory???! You think you will get me to subscribe another month with this? You're driving me away even farther.

There is far too much forced RP in this game. I play MMOs for the mechanics and gameplay not the story or immersion.

I have never played this game before. Getting to 50 and having to spend days on a story quest I don't enjoy is pretty lame.

Having to do all of these lame quests at once is much different than having to do them with patch releases. Played a lot of MMOs, never seen anything like this before.

I guess it wouldn't bother me if there was any reason for it. It's not like me doing all of these quests effects anyone else in any way at all. The only purpose it serves is to waste my time because I don't enjoy it.

You didn't play Aion it seems. They basically did the same thing, only you needed WAY more exp to level. Once I got to the Churning Mists, that's when it began feeling like Aion.

You have to que for old content.... some of the quest want you to go back and que for level 15 guild hest, and level 35 dungeons... at level 50 are you kidding me... A lot of the quest are silly filler... Where you just run around in circles for a few hours doing nothing. I think this would be okay if the EXP was thier. If i got 2 or 3 level out of my trouble; i'd totaly dig it, but you dont get anything... it's torchering you...

i have 3 more quest arc i have to do if i want to catch up... 3 whole quest arcs...

ANy who, the folks who are praising the system are just trolling. It's funny. i actually really like these forums the trolling is better than like 4chan or reddit... it's so funny.

Let down for a third and final time,
I said it when i departed before... and i'll say it in quitting now.... why didn't they just fix this sooner. They must obviously know it's a problem... and the fix... it's just so simple...

Exactly. Or buying a book and going straight to the last page to read the ending.
Then being bored again. And then unsubbing for another year.

Funny how SE wouldn't want that. Well done OP /sarcasm

The new FATEs and quest rewards are just bad. Quests at 58 give like double the experience of a level 50 quest, but you already need 5x the experience needed to level up. That's why there's still level 58 people going around Northern Thanalan instead of the new areas. The quests combined give you enough to get 1 character to about 60 unless you take over 2 weeks worth of daily roulette. If this is the case then you won't need all the quests and will have some extras.

It's actually more like wanting to wanting to watch a show starting at season 5 when you stopped watching at season 2.

I already cleared half the story just to have my ether compass, and it's useless unless I go further. That's a problem for me.
I think you are grossly underestimating how big the main story is, getting the Aether compass is the very tippy-top of the iceberg. You also don't have to clear the main story in order to fly in an area but you do have to clear that area. Assuming that the gathering classes progress through the same zones at the same speed as the battle classes (I just started working on gathering for about 15 minutes last night). You could then do the main story at your own pace to get through the Western Coerthas portion, unlock flying and then begin to gather from that zone. When you feel ready, proceed to the next zone.

Thank you for this information, but the next area is still locked by the story, which is still a problem to me, because it wasn't the case in ARR : I was able to go anywhere to gather whatever I need. And I did.

And still, flying mount is locked by the story, and I don't think that's fair.
Imagine a new player, excited to get his flying chocobo. Imagine when he realizes he has to go through all the story from 2.0, and progress even in HW to get it.

Now, if I look at the mission list in Gamerscape (SPOILERS if you click), without reading because I don't want to be spoiled, and looking just at the tiny icons on the right parts showing rewards, I see you unlock ether currents even in the latest mission. And the ether compass is roughly at the half of the page (looking at the scrollbar).

    It doesn't bother you ?
    It does to me.

To be honest, it would actually bother me a hell of a lot more if a brand new player was able to get their flying mount and fly around in Heavensward without touching the 2.X storyline. Yes, you have to earn the right to use the flying mount through side quests and MSQ, but the reasoning is because the flying mount trivializes most of the quests in the area. I also don't know of any MMO where you can just fly right off the bat in an area, and honestly FFXIV makes the unlock interesting since the aether current scavenger hunt is a pretty fun mini-game.
