Darkside Aura .. hurts my eyes. Can't turn it off.

Much as I love Dark Knight, gotta agree with this. It's huge, distracting, and honestly kind of ugly too. It's even more of an eyesore when people just stand around with it on.

I wouldn't go so far to say it's hurting my eyes - but its annoying. Gonna co-sign on this thread in hopes we can at least disable this in the options menu.

On the other hand, I was just thinking, maybe they should keep it the way it is. This way we can tell which people actually care that they are potentially annoying to others, and which only care about how "cool" and "unique" and "special snowflake" they are!
That was a half-joke, but it is how I feel on the inside when I see other Dark Knights with Dark Side on inside cities. I keep it off whenever I'm not actively in combat (during dungeon runs or hunting) and I honestly think it's just a matter of etiquette.

Personal opinion, of course, but judging by other's posts here I think I have the right of it.

I don't know what kind of graphic settings you guys have but I have not found that aura to be as obnoxious as some of you seem to think. I found it to be lacking and slightly excessive; it takes up twice as much space as the character. having it around the weapon seems like an appropriate alternative or maybe on the glove since some weapons have their own effects.

in the mean time, if it is rally that terrible, you might have to resort turning off effects, but i doubt many want to do that.

I'll agree that the red aura itself isn't "huge" but it's ridiculous in how much space it takes up. The red and black circle on the ground however, combined with the sound it makes is extremely anime-level overkill.

The Darkside aura is literally the only visual effect in this game i have ever actually called ugly.

FFXIV's aura effects are usually so pretty and wispy and fluid. The weapon glows look amazing. Darkside is just huge and looks very F2P MMOish, feels out of place in this game.
