But we checked on overworld monsters, like peistes near Bluefog.

But it seems to us that an higher level, with more defense and elementral resist should always take less damage. I even removed my shield to prevent some invisible bonus that might apply.
But I'll do more test as soon as I can
It makes the most sense for us if it did work like that, higher number = better effect, but it's not how the game really handles it. Stats scale differently depending on your level, it takes more of it to have the same effect. If it didn't work this way then eventually, after enough expansions/gear upgrades, we'd all be running around with 100% defense, crit, parry, etc.

It wouldn't hurt to test some more to be certain but I think that is what is happening here.

As long as Defense, Crit, Parry, etc...are tied to the difference between stats, you could always stay in reasonable numbers. Yes, you'd have godlike stats if the mob if too low for you, but it's hardly relevent.
(In fact, in 1.xx, that was the case. As a PLD50, with a Rage Of Halone, I'd do around 500 damage on a lvl50. And around 4000 on a lvl40.)

I don't understand how, towards the same monster, having more defense makes you take more damage.

Makes no senses at all, higher def mean sless damage, I can't find anything legitiming the opposite

Ok this is from a healing persective.

I have found some DRKs more squishy than other tanks, I dont know if thats due to lack of knowledge of how to use CDs.
However I have had some DRKs who have self healed like no ones business and it was fairly impressive.

I think it is a case of less experienced players

Throwing my thoughts in here DRK is fine just needs some tweaks. there have been pulls where i had taken very little DMG even my healer went AFK to get a parcel while I kept myself going for a bit.

though there have been times where I messed up and was punished a bit for it.
yes its a new Job and people are still figuring it out but I do see it needing some tweaks, its a very fun class to play and I'm loving it atm.

We wont know how well it will do until Alexander is released and most peoples complaints are from trying it in coil which is content that wasn't designed with DRKs in mind but it does lack the utility others do have due to some of them being behind parry procs.

Ive had dungeon runs where i was told how strudy i was and others that when i made a mistake in CD usage i did take a bit of a beating but overall so far DRKs are fine just needing some tweaks.

Higher def does mean less damage, however stat formulas are not the same for 51+. Which should be obvious given Skill speed requirements are different for example.
The game has been rebalanced for the new level cap.

This should be the case only for mob above lvl50 too.
For example, if you want to take the same damage as a level 60 vs a lvl60 monster, you'd need a higher Defense/Attack ratio that you would at level 50 vs a lvl 50 monster.

I'l up my pld 51 and test Titan Hm again, we'll see if I take 20% more damage on every attack like it is with my 54 DRK.
Maybe you're right... it would be so.. weird, for SE to make powerful char wearing better armor to take higher dmg Oo

It evens out later, basically take the idea that armor gave about 30% mitigation or something like that @ 50. They're not making it do 50% @ 60, so they changed the stat weight.

Basically Heavensward is a 'reset', not a linear power boost.

They could have just make high level mobs hit harder...well, we'll test with higher level characters
