80% of fetch quest boredom is all from those damn moogle bs fetch/ hide and seek quests in the churning mists.
All of that concentrated in tht 1 area as to how in 2.x it was EVERYWHEREEEE.
So imo 3.0 is going in the right direction. Almost want to choke those moogles for making me their warrior of errands.

But after all tht i was glad i stuck around, the vault is AMAZING if you are a dark souls fan. All tht bs fetch stuff just to experience tht dungeon was worth it for me.
I seriously tho hate those needy moogles and their soil / kupo nuts.
    Almost want to punt them.

Exploring the map and attuning to aether currents before you can fly in said map is fine, but I'm not too fond of the part that they lock aether currents behind quest as well, one might figure how flying is useful especially with all the fetching quests in heavensward. I haven't been making much progress in MSQ yet due to fate grinding for DRK, but all the horrors of the 101 kupo quest I've heard isn't a good sign. I've even heard claims of people saying how SE is trying to make the players hate kupos!

Flying in this game is well done. It's what Aion should have done with their flying system. We don't have to flight through "rings" and we can stay in the air as long as we want.

I generally enjoy HW, it is going to be a bit of a downer when I'm done with the MSQ.

The only gripe i have with HW is those damn moogle quests....apparently the warrior of light needs to save the moogle squad?..seriously? XD.

And aren't dragoons suppose to be the ones dealing with dragons?

You know how Moogles are. Incompetent, incomprehensibly fluffy (such that they are able to invoke one of the most common "cold-hearted girl" tropes in all of anime), and all for the greater good of Truth, Justice, and the Kupo Way.

And as for that bit about dragons.... something tells me you haven't met the big guy in that zone yet (the one whose face looks more like a hound dog than a dragon, IMO). Wait until then. You'll be surprised.

Funny. Maybe it's just my server, but people tend to ignore most FATEs (only going after specific ones with VERY specific rewards). I've gotten along rather well avoiding them, tbh.

You clearly did not progress much in the main scenario. I've skipped all of 2.0's story and most of heavensward, but I actually watched cutscenes towards the end because it was just that good.

    1. That's a good thing. WoW removed flying because it ruined the game by allowing players to practically fly over everything. Super easy mode. Not fun at all. But SE got it perfect, while also addressing players' want for better/more exploration in HW that ARR lacked.

    2. The questing in HW is much improved, mainly due to more interesting zones and more interesting quests. I only agree with you on some of the quests.

    3. I strongly disagree. There is very little errand quests in HW's story compared to ARR. The story writing is much improved, and they actually make you feel more import in HW. And when there is an errand story quest, it has significance to it, whereas in ARR some of the story errand quests were literally pointless.

    4. I agree with this as gating new content behind an insanely long story that will only get longer with each expansion makes it very difficult to bring in new players. I hope they solve this issue in the future.

    5. You're joking right? The ending to ARR was some of the best story plotting in the history of RPGs, alongside greats such as FFVI and FFVII. And HW has kicked up the epicness even more. Just the entire concept of the giant flying whale known as Bismarck and the scenes with him is just jaw dropping in and of itself. It's about as epic as the scene from FFIX when Alexander and Bahamut fight in the city of Alexandria.

And the most shocking part of your entire post is when you say you don't feel like you are a part of a fantasy game because of the zones and whatever. I can't even believe I'm reading that. I've been playing MMOs since Everquest 1 and have played every major MMO under the sun and experienced countless expansions, and played RPGs since the mid-90s, and I'm also a fantasy addict, and HW has some of the most beautifully designed zones I have ever seen and I haven't even seen the later zones yet. The music makes it even better. When I first stepped foot into the Dravanian Forelands I was stunned. I had to stop a moment to take it in, and the music was amazing. HW is hands down the best expansion ever released in MMO history. It's not just the largest, but the quality is through the roof, and the amount of improvements over ARR is staggering. That's not even a matter of opinion. The only thing that is a matter of opinion is whether someone likes the game or not. But no expansion in MMO history touches HW.

OP just seems to me to be one of the guys that wants to play a game that hands you everything immediately.

Note, SE did *not* beta test the expansion publicly. There's probably tweaks that need to be done(xp, difficulty, whatever, it always happens), but to sit and kvetch about being an errand boy... Really? You volunteer for most of them yourself, grateful to not be out in the cold, running for your life anymore.

Come on. Whine more will you?

Actually, they put flying back in. It's going to be tied to a few factions and achievements, but flying is back in.

    Sorry.
