Some may rejoice but the day SE falters and gives into letting male characters run around in all sorts of provocative female clothes will be the day I quit the game. Too many people are just doing their oh so best to blur the lines between everything and don't have a clue of what is good and right. This thread is a perfect example of a worldview that has no standard in which to look to and make decisions based on. Moral decay at it's finest.
You do realize that originally women in belly-dancer outfits were considered obscene (actually, they often still are) so it was primarily male? We are talking about a Muslim tradition after all.

You can't.. Infact to even be consistent with your own worldview you would have to say its ok for them both to have the surgery which reveals the insanity of the position.. So how is it you can say it's a good thing for men to cross-dress?
If you ask me, it's perfectly ok to have a limb surgically removed if you feel such a compelling need to do so as those with that disorder might feel, and I'd never judge anyone who had done so -- though I can understand that a lot of surgeons might have a hard time reconciling that with their oath to do no harm, it's a far better option than many others available, most of which are rarely without complications. And since it's a diagnosable disorder, the loss of said limb could be seen as the result of illness.

.....as for secular vs non-secular world views... I find it very interesting to note that most Christian people who go out and claim this or that is WRONG or SINFUL or MORALLY CORRUPT tend to forget one very big thing that one part of their holy trinity said. "Judge not, lest ye be judged." It is not up to humans to judge whether or not another person is doing something morally wrong -- the only one allowed to judge them is God.

I'm not saying you, Yukiba, are Christan, but since your argument seems to be that your opinion on moral is the right one and the 'secular worldview' has no moral foundation, I think it's safe to guess you hold very strongly to some sort of religion.

And even if your personal opinion is one of disagreement with this particular example of making the female-only costume unisex, perhaps you might agree that it would still be alright to argue for the male characters' right to have the same amount of gender-locked outfits? Instead of the constant female-only/unisex pairs we've seen released. (Yes, there are some male-only clothes, but not as many as there are female-only.)

    Why not? Wizards do it.

First: This has nothing to do with trans people playing as they'd simply pick characters they'd want to pick, just like anyone else does.

Personally I wouldn't mind the dress for males, with some tasteful adjustments. Men have worn dresses, skirts, kilts, robes and the likes for centuries before the trousers were even properly invented. In other words, if we go that route, there is no way you can say that men should only ever wear trousers. I once read that maybe people fear this 'crossdressing' as they call it because 'looking like a female' would mean 'looking weak'. Now, I wouldn't know, so I'd stick with personal preference and call it that instead. But indeed, there is no reason for a game that has made efforts to make different yet equivalent versions of outfits for both males and females to put a halt to that. With a bit of artistic tweaking a great alternative can be created that still looks manly yet is 'a dress'.

Devastated that I won't be able to put this glamour onto my character because it means a Minwu cosplay is that much farther away. Forget trans implications, I want my whm glamour to be able to take style elements from the most badass whm in the final fantasy series.

And tbh, I've lost a little bit of respect for SE in this. Females getting more glamour options than males is okay, based on the fact males shouldn't wear skirts?
Once upon a time, females were told to wear skirts and were looked down upon for wearing pants. That was wrong, and it was sexism. Males only allowed to wear trousers and looked down upon for wearing skirts is wrong, and it's sexism. It's entirely unfair from a equality perspective, and it's unfair in a gameplay perspective because females have so many more glamour sets than males in this game. It's 2015, SE. Stop living in the early 90s or at least go back to 1988 with male designs like Minwu's.

This take is entirely puzzling, since SE recently backtracked on making the plain long skirt available for males too. Originally it was female only, which should indicate they've learned a lesson. Right? Wrong, apparently.

In terms of males beeing able to wear female clothing theres alot more to it then simply "not wanting to add it".

Remember same sex marriage, alltho it was eventually added. To avoid problem with part of their playerbase they had to rename it so it became more like a friendly bonding then a actual marriage.

SE would have to research this far and wide to find out what the result of adding this would be cause in the end ARR is a product made to make money, if they lose a large chunk of their playerbase because they allowed this then it wouldnt be a very good desicion.

But this wouldn't be the first dress or even "effeminate" looking outfit available to males in game, or in final fantasy in general. Comments like this imply like this would be such a huge move for them, but it really wouldn't be.

Judging by their past laziness of when males put on the fanfest moogle outfit, their torso, legs and arms immediately turn into a woman's, I'd say that's not the case.

If that was true, I want Ramuh's robe and Titan's loincloth to be replaced into more manly alternatives (alternatives being pants, pants, and pants) not to mention existing things like the Flame elite loincloth being turned into pants stat before people stop playing this game. Think of the children!

God doesn't care if a man wears a dress. They care if you love others equally and do good works. I have no idea where you're getting this "Men in dresses is immoral." thing cause it's certainly not a universal religious belief.
