It will be #1There are three basic possibilities: (1) Both males and females get the same set with only the adjustments necessary to fit each race and gender. (2) The males get the basic Dark Knight set as shown in that concept art, but the females get something slightly different. or (3) The females get the basic Dark Knight set as shown in that concept art, but the males get something slightly different.
All the already existing tank gears look the same on both genders
And don't bring up the DRG AF. DRG is a melee damage dealer, not a tank.

Sam, follow the govenator's advice and stop whining.
The Primal of the Lalafell says; "If you wanna dress scantily clad, do it. If you want to dress fully armored, do it. If you don't like DRG AF1, dont' play DRG or use other gear."
Parry, have a little empathy, some folks want to play girl characters and not have to worry about looking like eye candy all the time. What one person sees as whining, others see as as a reasonable complaint. I mean, seriously, how would you feel if I stepped into every thread asking for something or talking about a complaint and said "Stop whining"?
What you're suggesting is going into the thread asking SE to stop RMT and saying "If you want do deal with RMT, deal with it. If you want to ignore them, do it. If you don't like RMT, don't play FFXIV or turn on /busy."
No, that's a terrible analogy. As dumb as DRG AF looks (on both male and female), the fact that females are [naturally] more agile and flexible even shows in the AF set; the lack of mail allows them to flex more easily.Parry, have a little empathy, some folks want to play girl characters and not have to worry about looking like eye candy all the time. Not like it matters.
also;
>fantasy
>not eye candy
Pick one. Seriously. My lalafell is adorable and she's not dressed like "eye candy".
Neither will be my Au Ra when she's created if I have a say in it.
This is such an awkward assumption on the dev team's behalf IMHO. Note that the men are much more difference than the hyur or Miqo'te (Both still holding the majority in male characters). We know they've been planning Raen Au Ra since the introduction of Yugiri. Why they decided they'd make the Xaela the same is beyond me.
Of course, but if you place a person in full armor next to a codpiece, which one are you going to take more serious? Which do you think is going to far better in battle? Like.. You can't deny that actual armor serves a purpose, to protect the body, that is invaluable in battle. Seriously.. Look at them and you know what I see? A lot of areas to stab. If someone came to a pool party in a business suit, wouldn't you raise a brow? How serious someone takes the situation will be determined by what sort of thing they're wearing to the occasion. You don't go into battle with an open chest because it means you've got all that more you've got to protect, you're going into the situation unprepared. Also, using 300 isn't a really good example of Spartan battle wear, it's not really too historically accurate. Leonidas wore https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...as-_Sparte.JPG so even they had the thought to wear some armor into battle.
You're right though! Cultural differences will become very telling in what someone wears into battle! However, I've stated several times, if the men's gear looks as silly, let's say their stomach exposed in the DRG AF, as the women's does, I wouldn't complain. This isn't the case though. Like.. Someone's coming to a business meeting and they're wearing a banana hammock while everyone else in there is wearing full three piece suits, sure they may talk business wonderfully, but you're telling me that you wouldn't question their outfit at least once? Maybe if everyone else was wearing banana hammocks, but if that guy's the odd one out, I'm pretty sure you're going to ask some questions. Bruce Lee didn't wear cloth into battle, he was a wonderful martial artist but he never charged into battle in cloth, heck the Keikogi in a lot of traditional eastern martial arts are for training purposes.
Practicality of the boob armor aside in the first link, and while I know nothing of the series the character is from, this guys http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20120131054816 seems a lot more prepared for battle than someone with their shoulders bared and stockings showing. If you're looking at spots on the man's armor, notably around the knees, forearms, or torso, it's a good bit thicker. In the second link, the woman's armor preserves the form as much as possible while still trying to retain the motif, while the men's bulks up to give off a certain feel exact feel of the armor's motif. Like I've said, if you're going to be "tightly fitted" then make the men's gear "tightly fitted" as well.
Sure, and again, I don't care about armor as long as the men's armor looks equally ridiculous or the women's armor looks equally bulky. If having "Feminine" gear means it does the whole "Form fitting as possible" while the "masculine" version of the same gear means it bulks up to show off a motif, I'm going to cry fowl right there. It because more clear that they're doing things besides making the armor more sensible whenever changes like that exist.
Cool, guess you gotta shut down the NA and EU forums cause Japan doesn't care.
Honestly I never thought about the MNK AF. I wouldn't mind if they either took out the under-armor for the men or added it to the women as well in this case. But I'd hope they'd make it equal.
Except women within FFXIV are no wear stated to be more flexable. Look at all those sharp bits around the bellyhole, if anything the scalemail is to protect from those thing from jabbing into the body whenever the person turns around. You've got options to deal with RMT so stop your whining.
You can have fantasy without being eye candy, I just don't want to have to play a male PC for that.
Or you could just accept the fact that in Japan (and Asian cultures in general), these things are acceptable and part of their culture. Armor will reflect this like it always has in Japanese and korean games. Again, Japan doesn't care about your first world feminist agenda, and 54 pages over a belly button showing is a big reason why.

Oh, you're one of THOSE people. Can ignore you safely from now on, nevermind you clearly not understanding what the thread is actually about.
I see this thread going on well after we get an official screen of a female in Dark Knight AF, though i think with six days left before early access it couldn't hurt to allay one or the other groups concerns. With events planned on the 16th through the 18th here's to hoping for new info soon.
The difference between tanks and damage dealers involves their role in a party, not the kind of armour they wear. If we were discussing the gear's stats, then whether it's a tank or dd would be relevant, but we're not. We're discussing its appearance. Both Dragoon and Dark Knight are fully armoured jobs.
