Still no word on Au Ra Naming Conventions?

To the SE Devs:

You noted that we've been waiting patiently and indeed we have. But it's getting tiring, and to hold off announcing these until the day before Early Access would violate the trust you've worked so hard to build with us. We were enthusiastic that you would release the naming conventions in Late May because there are many of us who love the other races you've designed for us and don't want to abandon those. So instead we want to create new characters so we can enjoy all of the amazing content you've put together for us over the years.

You promised the community almost 2 weeks ago that they would be released 'soon'. 'Soon' is already beginning to feel strained, and if you hold off announcing these until the E3 conference, it will simply feel like a word you used to string us along. Please don't do this.

No! Let's not let them off the hook on this. Nearly two weeks ago they said they would be posted 'soon'. It would be a violation of our trust to put off releasing them until the Live Letter so they can have more filler for it. They're already 1 1/2 weeks late for the time they promised us that they would release them.

I think it's more a case of resignation than anything else. It's not even slightly surprising anymore that they would break their word in the first place, and then be vague about what 'soon' meant. That doesn't make it ridiculous in the extreme though. I have sympathy for the 12+ hour days they're putting in currently, I really do, but it's insane that something they said was done MONTHS ago, and is a reasonable request from the community, is taking so long.

Unless they were lying through their teeth about the naming conventions being done, and are trying to pull them out of their butts now? Which, wouldn't entirely surprise me either. We got the same kind of thing with the housing prices and other things.

In all fairness, Koji's exact wording was "we have the naming conventions done and are fleshing out the lore behind them," so while the conventions themselves were done, the details of Au Ra society and physiology weren't; I'd like to imagine those would color peoples' choices to some degree. They've also admitted (in the Japanese version of the "they're not ready yet" post) that they have no excuse for it, but are "prioritizing the release of Heavensward" and want to have the conventions simultaneously released in all supported languages, so they're on the back burner.

(Still, the fact they have to put off a long-ish (maybe) forum post for such a long time doesn't exactly fill me with hope.)

Most people have just accepted we're getting them soon™. Not much else can be done.

It's much worse for people who are going to use a Fantasia, like me, since we have to wait for it to go through on the Mog Station. Or somethin'. Dunno, never name changed a character in this game, so.

One can't walk around Mor Dhona without bumping into 3 or 4 Kiritos. Still, I'll hold until the Au Ra hype dies off a bit to change races so that means extra time, or might not even change my name...
