I like the idea of an 8v8.
If one GC out of the 3 is lacking people queuing up, it could just make a battle with only the 2 GCs that are queuing up.
2 teams is still a battle.

That is fine you defend that they tied the idea of frontlines and GC's. But if the new maps are called frontlines and GC related then what? What is stopping them from adding an NPC that says GC's aren't getting enough support and will take any help they can get. I like teams, sides or groups. But not to the point I can't invite casuals to join knowing that they have to wait 30 mins at least.GC restrictions are tied to frontlines, and removing them would completely undermine the orignal idea.
Instead, perhaps we should have a different type of pvp that is separate from frontlines. It could still be a 24 man or 72 man game type where you can que with no restrictions.
Open world - duel system if we an play cards with each other no reason we can't spar/ duel for fun! Let's practice our skills and have fun while waiting on df queues

And you can't disable chat or turn it to a different tab for what reason to ignore requests like that? Or simply hide the chat log for that matter.Really hope they fix the queuing system. I don't blame for people for requiring when there friends ques pops to fill in empty spots. But it sucks for everyone who's been waiting an hour. This method gets the guys on Gilgamesh twice as many games as anyone else on aether. I've also seen players badgered to back out to open spots for people which sucks.
No offense but this is not good enough, saying the devs are listening and you are relaying the info to them doesn't tell us anything. Especially considering how the last response or fix on any specific issue has been months ago and there is still no shortage of stuff to fix.Greetings,
In the lead up to the release of Heavensward, it can seem like we're being silent or not following up on many of the topics you're bringing up here. However, we would like everyone to understand that we are listening and gathering all of the feedback you've been diligently submitting to us, whether or not we make it overtly known. The development team truly values everyone's feedback and suggestions.
That being said, your comments from this thread, and other related threads, have been relayed to the development team. They would like to use all of the comments they've been getting as reference for future development and adjustments.
We look forward to your continued suggestions and feedback to help make PvP, and FINAL FANTASY XIV itself, even better!
Tell us plans so we can give feedback on ideas before they are implemented (since we don't have test servers) to avoid messes like we've had in the past, the communication needs to opened.

I like the idea of a public dule. Have a disagreement over something, launch the duel system and settle the score like gentlemen..and ladies....and gentlemen who dress like ladies.
Any way, it could also be a good way to practice, settle FC disputes, or even add a whole new level to Role Playing. I know there have been a few people in ex-FCs that I'd have liked to give a sound thrashing too.

On that note, a 1v1 (Duel) system would be really nice too. I love the PvP in this game, but it's way too slow to even start a match for me to even bother anymore not to mention how unrewarding it is.
I am for a Duel system because it would be a great way to either (a) settle grudges or (b) play with friends online. Almost EVERY online game has it, why not FFXIV? While it's really cool that SE is trying to be unique and shiz, certain aspects of PvP are universal and should not be ignored because players love them.
+If I were to design a 1v1 system, I'd allow players to simply challenge other players to a duel while in Wolves Den, so not exactly open world but you know who you are challenging (right click and challenge the same way TT challenges work). Imagine how awesome this could be!
Pwease gimme 1v1 =(

In all this time I just did 1 PvP but I read and I will leave here a suggestion that may help the queue times and gather the max players interested to take on the PvP match.
Why not make a schedule like one in each hour? You would register your application to participate in the incoming match and depending the number of participants they would distribute the players according. If 24 registered it would be 8 vs 8 vs 8 but if 27 registered would be 9 vs 9 vs 9 and etc. If wasn't a number multiple of 3 it would left out and made as reserve.
This way everyone that wanted to participate in this events would be ready to go as soon was time. If some of the list is in instance would be discarded automatically and someone out of the multiple of 3 would take his place.
This could go even further, beside the hour schedule they could have a daily major event and one super big event weekly happening on weekend in prime times of each server.
And if you want to dream even more they could even hold a server vs server vs server
Adding new type of PvP styes and maps would be greater as well. More variety is always nice.

Work on making special zones which aren't timed instances and are shared across data centers please. That would fix PvP in a heartbeat.
Rather than being an instance which required 8 from each Grand Company, Frontlines could instead be open world with 3 matches every hour; 15 minute matches with a 5 minute break in between. Then just have (currently) four versions of the zone; 24 Secure, 72 Secure, 24 Slaughter, 72 Slaughter. Though I'd much rather drop 72, I preferred 48 honestly, less lag more tactics. Have multiple instances of those zones (similar to Housing Wards) and we're done. It is open world, so that removes any queue issues, and if it is shared across data centers that would hopefully deal with the issue of filling people, though I've seen enough PvP LSs to think a server on its own could probably manage.
Just slap a GATE style NPC in Wolves' Den Pier to detail when matches are going on/on break/require more people and slap an Airship dock there to take us to the Frontlines zone. We'd check with the NPC, see which matches are filling, and go participate. Would their be issues with unmatched groups? Probably, but you know what? I would much rather have a 5v8v6 in Frontlines, than sit around not doing Frontlines at all because the queues are so bad... Remove the queue issue and hopefully it can be popular enough that that wouldn't be the case anyway, as is I already have the odd 5v8v8 match up because people are clearly falling asleep waiting on the queue...
