    That goes into the realm of specifics that the devs haven't detailed yet. Which items are considered parts? Which ones are considered materials? We only got the one example. My impression is that the devs are trying to rid the game of "middle men" items, stuff that has no purpose other than to prolong the creation of a single piece of equipment. Which is good.

    Leather straps, per your example, have a much wider use currently. I don't think the dev team will get rid of them or replace them with leather (some recipes call for both leather and leather straps). However, things like leather shoulder guards, leather vamps, hempen tunic fronts, hempen hoods - these things don't see much use other than to create one item. They're a waste of time and space and should be removed.

    Ok yes they will be (old receipes) removed but they will impliment them in other ways. At least that's what they said.

    If they did it wrong with other updates then there's nothing you can do. If you feel that strong about it, voice it in your own thread with a Dev tag and hope someone stops in and reads it. That's all I can say. Until they release the patch it's all speculative. Thanks for explaining why. I still can't believe there is NOTHING though to replace the whole parts system as far as leveling. I guess what will need to happen is, all the crafters who are upset with the change should hurry the hell up and finish to 50. Othrwise, just wait. lol

    Crafters already know what are parts since we use the system every day and our abilities tell us what is what. Leather straps are indeed parts. In fact, the very example on lodestone shows the elimination of a strap in the recipe.

    No I honestly can't say I know how much they screwed up the gathering areas. I can say that it wouldn't surprise me. Crap like that happens when the community makes demands and they (Devs) impliment them and ...WHOOPS...yeah we forgot about that. Well, now you can suffer and wait again. MAYBE their doing to screw with you and in a way punish us for our complaints. Would be messed up but anyone who is a parent has done it to their kids and I sure as hell know it happened to me as one and I do it to my 2. LOL

    I've almost given up, its so far off what i was trying to say now lol..

    Its interesting its around 50/50 though, some people want the hollowed out system, with most of the same core issues some don't as less items/restrictions over all makes it better for them..
    but at least they seem to have got the dye part right, not seen any major issues with that lol.

    Just sad they decided to gut the system rather then just streamline and improve/add to it.
    (lol and again with the reuse lobi crafting resources for new hi rank stuff)

    Guess it'll be interesting to see if it changes much other then freeing up retainer space in the end lol..

    I'm fine with the changes, although it will definitely shift how crafters go about their business. The main thing I got from the post was they were getting rid of parts, which were typically the most time consuming and difficult parts to HQ given they were often similar level to the finished item itself, often consuming huge amounts of Raw materials for that +2 or +3 part to go into a finished good.

    SE could've also made the Careful Synthesis process faster, or increased the HQ rate of parts/materials and kept the old recipes but its obvious they chose to go a different direction by cutting out a time consuming part of the process. This will also have the benefit of significantly cutting down on the amount of inventory and market ward clutter, along with NPC trash that many crafters such as myself have probably grown accustomed to and frustrated with.

    We got this to over 400 posts and onto the 2nd page when sorted by most comments in less then 12hours..

    the main flaw in many people reasoning with this being a bad idea, is that this update is it...... period......


    but it is not, this is step one (how the battle system was done) in a multi step process to fix crafting.


    why do you think we are still not paying? this game is going to be flipped over a few times, and inside out some as well before it is released for PS3, consider us all in beta again, untill the PS3/payment starts.
