Ugh...honestly hated Blitzball...but I wont complain if they add it. I'm sure a lot of people will love it! But...like TT, it'll be one of those things I gently ignore.

Swimming animations can easily be included for the sole use in a Blitzball arena. Remember that, with 3.0, 3-dimensional movement is a thing now. The same control functions can easily be translated for use in water since both are fluid environments (air is just less dense = faster movement). All one would need is just modified animations since all the physics are already done. Even if it's not overworld swimming, it's not out of the realm of possibility for a Gold Saucer sport since SE did all the work for 3D movement to be included in Heavensward.

this idea would be amazing blitzball like people have said could go in a new wing of the Gold saucer and with blitzbal the up coming flying mount controls would work perfectly to move around in 3d space in a blitzball stadium can see fc playing other fc for mgp
and for the FF15 event with the demo we seen that could bring some nice weapons in aswell as new glamour gear but make it a one off event this time as with the lighting one i know that should of been twice with the game releases in japan and the western world or make the items buy able in the mog shop and later date

They may already have swimming animations, Yoshi said that for 3.0 they were going back and forth on whether they should add flying or swimming, but ultimately decided to go with flying. Who's to say though how far they took the swimming idea before they shelved it.
Blitzball was the bane of ff10 for me, trying to get that wakka weapon.. UGH. Was really bad at it, but somehow I feel it would be surprisingly better in FF14 as we could get more movement and playstyle.
