If anything, I could see gil checks being put into to place as people in the PF are not going to want the group being filled with gil -poor people looking to make a quick buck instead of bidding. So expect to see "Bid Party: Must have at least 1 mil to join" in the pf to weed out folks who probably wouldn't bid at all. Aside from that, I really don't see how this is different from people selling drops, clears, etc. in the pf already. I'll probably avoid it tbh. I've made a nice amount of gil crafting items from 20k-200k for 6 months that I'd hate to see tainted by someone with no crafters and 30 mil to spend on a belt.

You know that the same lazy, sedentary attitude that causes people to never make the PF they want to see also is the reason why they are raging at the prospect that PF will be full of parties they don't like?

It's pure impotence except not really because it is absolutely in their power to make their own party with their own rules.

But I would love to see the money go poof. Basically its a premade... greed is greed, everyone is there to get whatever they want to roll on. Its fair. But instead of a RNG doling out the loot... its an 'auction'. Basically whomever is willing to make more of their money go away gets the item. Interesting way to do a gil sink.

I doubt many will use it though. PF is the way to go, since the Need before Greed system is pretty fair for the most part.

Those who think it will make things toxic.. if there is so many of you that believe the community is so bad why haven't you all banded together with a FC or Linkshell on the same server? Set up fair and good rules for loot? Instead of relying on the devs to somehow code out greed and contempt?

Actually, less people there are to bid, cheaper you can get the gear for.. So logically, it makes sense to go with 7 people who won't bid and bid the lowest amount possible

One way I could see this being abused is as a way for RMT to legitimize their gil trade.
They already use MB or trade crap items for gil etc. to make the trade look "legit". Once the bidding thing happens, they can just go in a quick duty (5 min) then bid millions for the gear and SE will have even harder time telling apart legitimate gil trades vs. RMT trades.

Because as much as they complain about how bad the community is and how they're whatever strawman they want to set up they are utterly dependent on it to make their parties for them. They won't do any of the work, they just want to click a list and PF to read their mind and show the parties they want to see. They panic over the worst case scenario because they refuse to step up and help shape the community themselves.

That's only if the purpose of going is to get the item. If people want to go, have a chance at the item, and make some gil, which would the case for an auction party, they will want a few monied individuals along so they will at least make something.

possibly but how would one enforce this "gil check" anyway? when the most you can trade/show other players is 1 million?

If someone, whose intent is to make some money outbids the buyer to a price he wishes, but he could end up buying an item he doesn't want I think it'll be an interesting system, will it create some new drama? definitely, but it will be interesting nonetheless.
