Is it against SE's rules to sell you plot for relinquish to another player for Gil? I've been hearing anecdotes of people getting smacked on the wrist by SE for this.
Not as far as I'm aware.. There are plenty of threads on the forums advertising such things and they go untouched by the mods..
Besides, SE can't really police that when the very reason players are doing it is because of their own failures.. Players are just finding ways to work around the flawed system.
Housing was meant to be a gil sink. A player selling their plot means that they have to buy another housing permit, which is another 500K to 3 million down the black hole.
Now, a player selling their entire FC with a house was probably an unforeseen circumstance.
It's a joke of a gil sink, if they really wanted housing to regulate how much gil was in the economy, they would of added a rent system. It actually isn't that hard if you grind for it, to get 40-80M gil for a large house. Now if that large house cost you 1M gil a week to keep, I'm sure we wouldn't be having people buying up plots just for resell, and it would also make more plots available, due to repossession of inactive character's houses.
riiiight.... so i can work for my IRL mortgage and work for my in game one.. no thanksIt's a joke of a gil sink, if they really wanted housing to regulate how much gil was in the economy, they would of added a rent system. Do you really think the people complaining about not being able to get a house would be less excluded by this? I mean people are already conspicuously ignoring empty large plots when they say a server is full, if they are that cheap are they going to pay 1m a week? It's a joke of a gil sink, if they really wanted housing to regulate how much gil was in the economy, they would of added a rent system. That's true, among the people who complain about the availability of housing, there's a very large portion of them who simply don't have the money to even buy a small plot and complain because they can't make the gil.. Fact of the matter is, people WILL complain regardless of how it's done.. Even if SE implemented free instanced housing to everyone, some people WILL find ways to complain about that too..Do you really think the people complaining about not being able to get a house would be less excluded by this? is there housing available anywhere?
I think the problem is that small are severely under-priced, which allows for an incredibly high profit margin and encourages people to buy them out as soon as servers are up. Basic issue with price ceilings, it's economics 101. You don't have this land rush if houses aren't underpriced, none of these speculators are buying medium and large and there was no small land rush in 2.1That's true, among the people who complain about the availability of housing, there's a very large portion of them who simply don't have the money to even buy a small plot and complain because they can't make the gil.. Make houses sellable and float the price, suddenly all the survivors of dead FCs realize they'd like the money more than the house and there are houses available. They'd be a housing issue irl as well if you couldn't exchange property deeds.
