This is excellent, excellent news. I know it's a long way off, but I can't wait to see what new races end up getting added to the game. I've always wanted different options from what I had in FFXI, and I'm thrilled that you're going to make that happen! Thank you! This seems like a good enough place as any to post the official translation concerning new races appearing in the future of FINAL FANTASY XIV. When asked about the possibilities of adding new races, Yoshida had this to say.
Still a ways off, but feel free to let your imagination run free!
Original races, to me this could only mean traditional FF races like the Viera and I wish we could finally play as Moogles. I am sure there are others races more people can think of most are slipping my mind atm.
Here is some FF12 moogles in different kinds of clothing or gear. I could see it working well, considering Lalafell and taru's have armor.

well, for one the game has only been out 1 year, released october 2010 if i remember correctly. And why not?! It's not like subscription is booming right now so what do they have to lose by adding more races that might appeal to people. Frankly i just want the old classes back. I still am not fond of these classes in 14 though.
If i had to say a race i would like to see, i would say, the bunny girls from 12 don't remember what they were called, maybe manthra's or an Elemental type race.
I would like to see the rabbit race that Fran is from FF12

Refresh your FF knowledge! MooglesWho says moogles can't wear armor? Moogle NPCs in FFXI wore all kinds of different clothing. :P
Of course it's doable. As someone very early on said: the Moogles role in XIV is so tiny and brief that it's hardly understandable. In my mind, they are the most iconic image of the franchise. In IX, they're social adventurers. In XIV they wear same kind clothing that everyone else does. They're the villains in the Chocobo games. Helpful guides, shop owners, crafters and healers all throughout the other games. Yet in XIV they're limited to cutscenes and special occasions. OMG a moogle /freakout. I hope this changes, one way or another.
Maybe the Viera males are the Moogles from XII? (They both already possess bunny ears, in some moogle adaptions)
I guess my point is moogles always seem to vary from the cute shopkeepers to the humanoid adventurers throughout the franchise. I'd like to see the humanoid moogles in Eorzea, and perhaps even have a chance to play as them aswell. (ideally, they could even be red)
PS: Ronso could be another 'type' of Roegadyn. Both begin with the Japanse character Ro.

That's great. I'm thinking of ideas how they could implement male Viera without them looking too feminine. I see lot's of hairstyles where their ears are meshed into the flow of their hairstyles.
This gets me excited that I HOPE they will become playable and not just exist.
I have a feeling if they made Viera anything close to FFXII and FFTA's they would be as tall as Galka and thin as a rail. Even the men would look feminine though.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
As much as it would be fan service, I would love to see a pooling of races from different FF games, kind of like how they did the two "fighting" games. If you have to call them difference races, but in the long run who really cares if you pull in "look alike" races from other FF games.
Although I think so players heads might explode if they had to choose from cat girls and bunny chicks ;p
Crab people.
