    You are definitely not the only one. I was going to make my own thread about it, but since you did it for me I am going to write my opinion here. So the general consensus is that every old jobs is dead so there is no point in playing anything but DK, AST, and MAC.
    Soooo let's look at the dead jobs and why they died:


    Paladin:
    New combos to use as and off tank, barriers that spread heals, new dots, new way to block.
    Im short, nothing major but several small QOL tweeks. Don't fix if it ain't broken.

    Warrior:
    We get new tanking abilities plus a lot of ways to boost our damage when you are not the main tank.
    Many complained about the decision to make the warrior a tank class instead of a DPS so sounds like a win.

    Black Mage:
    Two buffs, two more powerful DPS spells and a neat little mechanic that makes the current boring rotation more fun.
    What's not to love?

    Dragoon:
    More highly damaging abilities and combos to make dragoons less laughable, plus adjusted animation lock.
    Again, just improvements with zero downside.

    Bard:
    A song that lets you charge your attacks in exchange for movements. It doesn't consume mana and can be used with other songs as well.
    I get it that some people are not fans, but it is OPTIONAL. IN some situations it will be extremely useful, and you don't have to use ii in situatiuons where it won't be.

    Ninja:
    Ways to extend the effect of Huton(Yaaay, I'm bored to death with aplying huton every minute), Positionals(since we are the only melee dps that doesn't have them it's only fair) and emnity managing abilities (Hey, FFXI fans, here is a ninja tank for you).
    All are obvious improvements except for the positionals, but honestly as a monk I completely ignored them and still mowed down enemies.

    Monk:
    Chakra. Yes, finally something monk like. I no longer will be a pugilist RP-ing as a monk, but an actual monk. I'm in love with this change.

    White mage:
    New aoe heal and instant heal cause we have few of those and new DPS spells to make soloing less boring.
    Another great class.

    Scholar:
    New aoe heal and new skills that make you think
    Less boringness, yaaay.


    Summoner: (I was saving this for last)
    No new egis (everyone I talked to hates egis, and only garuda is summoned during endgame content)
    Actually strong Tri-Disaster. (yaaay)
    Way to merge with Bahamut and deal horrible damage(awesome. Bahamut is cool. In case you are wondering if this is summoning, Iceheart kinda did the same with Shiva, so yes.)


    All in all, every job got waaay better.

    I liked pretty much everything, except SMN won't get new summons. Summoning is kinda the point of summoner...but then again we already got 3 that cover physical/magical DPS, and a tank summon; so there's not really any particular need for more. But considering that there's many different primals, it would make sense that you'd be able to get egis from all of them. It would have been even better, if there was elemental weaknesses.
    But the other SMN changes seemed good anyway.
    So yah, good stuff.
    War DPS stance is \o/ Probably it won't compare to the other DD though.

    I really like what they are doing to smn in heavensward with the bahamut's trance and the fact that with tri-disaster you can put up bio bio2 and miasma at once. I also like what they are doing to bard and dragoon and BLM to. I really am looking forward to heavensward for the fact of becoming a au'ra to. June 19th can't come quick enough for me.

    I'm curious to see what the Japanese forums say about all the changes being made to jobs and rotations. I'm like, 95% sure it's just us filthy, spoiled, entitled, Americans that complain about everything. I've only read about the new job abilities and my mind started racing as to how these will be applied but I've heard that the forums are all raging. Why is this?

    i find fresh most of the change, exept the one added to the ninja, i feel they did take the easy way, more important all the job seems to evolve with heavenward, when ninja feel the same... indeed it was added to the 2.4, but that means the ninja only get positional as new mechanic... when it's not adapted to the ninjutsu. i feel they wasn't knowing what add to the jobs and instead to work more the ninjutsu and give us more ninja move... we simply did get positional.

    they have make more complexe and punishing one of the jobs the most punishing soo far, because yes, it's one of the most punishing, if you mess up a ninjutsu you have 20 second to wait for be able to catch back, indeed you can use the cd for reset, but it's work only every 2 minutes. mess up huton and you will feel it...
    don't get me wrong, i know that other jobs have punishing mechanic, but there we will get more and more punishing mechanic instead to give us more mechanic to exploit and work on the deepth of the jobs.

    look at all the jobs, they all did receive fresh mechanic that did make the jobs evolve and feel like becoming stronger.... exept ninja. QoL change =/= evolution....

    one more time the trouble come from the lack of test server... but what you want, they don't want to allows us to test mechanic for avoid this sort of stuff.

    ps: exept ninja i'm quite excited to see the new mechanic of the other jobs... i feel simply extremely disappointed by them decision and the escuse of why they have do this... because the jobs is still new.
    i'm kinda sure the population of the ninja will more decrease with this change...

    all the news thats been released for heavensward actually hasnt disappointed me at any point.. makes me super eager and impatient to play it lol

    well the only thing that has disappointed me is the way availability and pricing of heavensward was handled but thats a minor thing XD

    The level of excitment for this expansion is so high that i would call my work a week ahead of release and tell them i will be sick on the 19th just to be sure ill get to play it.

    That and yanking all the phone lines, turning of my cellphone, locking my doors and pretend that the outside world never existed.

    As for my feelings: I'm looking forward to the xpac still, and it was great to see the new skills! Summoner looks more interesting to me now, and while I would like at least one new egi, I can also understand that this will be far easier to balance, more so since they were needing to find a way to bring the job up to par. Plus the whole "Akn Morn" thing reminds me of pre-X summons, just with a much shorter animation.

    Can't say much about Ninja beyond the fact that Fuuton won't be the only used ninjutsu is probably a good thing.
