Any word if the collector's edition Griffon can be used as a ground mount as well?

From what we've seen of flying mount demos, flying mounts move along the ground until you choose to make them fly. I doubt Griffon will be any different. ALL mounts have a ground mode. SOME mounts have a flying mode, and this flying mode can only be used after unlocking it, and only in certain expansion areas.

My main concern. As a member of a FC currently without a House (no free plots at all on Balmung), news that there'll be no housing in Ishgard for 1-2 years, is disconcerting. Especially with FC Airships (not to mention being unable to garden for rare items/chocobo coloring/etc), FC's like mine will be left out on the lurch, while others get to fully enjoy the benefit. Some new housing wards to the current areas would be helpful in this regard, but on high population servers where there are some members/FC's with multiple houses, all of this new content being 'restricted' to those fortunate enough to get a House... is a letdown.

If it's any comfort, they way SE's presented FC airships, ANYONE will be able to hitch a ride on an FC's airship in order to participate in the content exclusive to FC airships. You're not out of luck if your FC doesn't have an airship, or even a home. Heck, you don't need to be in an FC at all, and you can still fly on an FC's airship.

So what's the point in an FC building an airship at all, when they can just use someone else's? I'm not really sure. The prestige? Maybe they can charge a fee of some kind for use of their airship? We'll have to wait and see about the specifics, but Yoshi P was (wisely) sure to note that not having access to an FC airship will not lock you out of any content.

FC alliance is cool, but I'd still like to learn about which HW content is going to make Free Companies more active. I'm hoping the airships lead to an assortment of rich activities for FCs to do.
