Yes, but unlike the childish stunt G'raha pulled out of an inflated sense of self-importance, Desch actually had to do what he did or everyone on the Floating Continent would have died. It was sad, but he really had no time to think about other options, and, well, it proved to be enough to mark him as a soul capable of saving the Warriors of Light in their time of need. The FFXIV version is a bit odd on that, but it hits a few of the same points and left a few of the same possibilities open.

But yeah, the Allagans were F*d up, and telling me that they had the tech to hijack people's lives 2000 years after they all died out doesn't exactly give me the warm fuzzies it was (apparently) meant to. How many other Allagan "sleeper agents" like G'raha are out there, oblivious that the people of 2000 years ago have decided on a role for them in their plan and care nothing for the person they could have become on their own?

Yeah, his ego was through the ceiling at that point, comapre him before and after WoD. With Heterochromia he seems much more humble, lost even. With red eyes he seems way too overconfident. "Heir to the thoughts and dreams of a lost civilization". Must make him feel very special.
Doesn't mean that we Warriors of Light won't give him a hefty /slap if he talks down to us.

Wasn't that 5000 years ago? Just be glad that the Allagans are only using blood as a medium. Dread the possibility as to if they could actually mind swap places with people. Imagine it, one day you're gardening at your house when you get a strange headache, the next second you're in an unfamilliar place, in an unfamilliar body, watching as the world falls to pieces... You're going to die here and a stranger will be walking around in your skin.

Oh... Now there's a good idea for a fic...

He has all of Salina's memories (among others) mixed in with his own now. I'd say there's a second person in there already, if not a third or even a fourth. And we just let him go because he said "hope" a few times. That's not going to come back to haunt us...

You mean like the possessed Miqote who gives us the weekly Tower quest?

If I recall correctly, I believe that Noah mentioned he was only "borrowing" Koh's body, she picked up the orb containing his soul and he let himself flow into her. I'd imagine it's more of a case of shoving her mind into a corner... Where she can only watch her body do and say things she can't control... and do naught but scream.
What I meant was more like Lovecraft's Yithians.

On the upside though, I recently noticed that my G'raha Retainer makes his ears twitch when he smiles after finishing a venture. It's very sweet.

Any other Lore-hounds out there with an idea of how seriously we should be taking her, setting-wise? I suppose they needed some sort of justification for how we can still raid after the tower was sealed, but, of all things, the ghost of Archmagus Noah himself, ambling about the world of today in a brain-jacked Miqo'te (rather, another brain-jacked Miqo'te), muttering about how people should be free from the "shadows of the past?" And how exactly does he expect to get back to his resting place in the tower when he's done with, whatever he's doing?

I think I'm actually more concerned at the idea of "her" being a totally inessential character in our ongoing studies of the Allagan legacy.

... What do you mean another brain-jacked-?
    Oh. Right...
(Mental note to smack G'raha with my grimoire when next we see him)

You'd think that NOAH would care that one of their researchers is currently being possessed by the Allagan Archmagus...? No?

... Do you think there's any chance we could get some... Tomestones of Technology and speed things up a bit?

All we know so far is jus this big alllagan estructure, that we know as the "floating continent", where probably the new 24- raid is.
