I am so happy about personal chocobos. I was under the impression we were only going to get rentals to start. I hope we can actually get gear for them too. The rest of the patch looks fantastic.

though given the candor in that famitzu interview, I would not be wholly surprised if chocobo's were not pushed back to .19a Not that i want that to happen. its a distinct possibility though.
Either way it looks like the fun is about to be shipped in by the 18 wheeler full. cant wait.
you remember the old targeting system? the one that seemed to have a mind of its own?
Remember how densely packed camps use to be? and the crystals seeming to have the hit box of a lalafell? Yea standing infront of the crystal and trying to target the damned thing was fun for hours on end..
Things have improved since the crash test dummy days tough. I would be stupid not to admit that. Still i do hope that the menu interaction will stay along with the reimplementation of the direct targeting. On the same note i would hope that eventually dual interaction methods would spread out to most all objects we interact with. Chests, ???'s, those few stubborn doors that refuse to open automatically. Just talking about ease of use here.

An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain
So... the fact that they are adding choco rentals at the same time as introducing personal chocos tells me that the personal ones will either be extremely rare or very limited in use.
Since it's translated from Japanese, the "end" of a month will almost certainly be some time in the last 10 days. In Japanese you separate months into thirds.
No comment on how fast this should or shouldn't be, just a slight clarification.
I agree and I would buy the PS3 to support the changessome cool stuff for sure...but this game wont feel complete to me until stuff like:
(mainly) world re-design
job system
personal housing
mail system
better server side/less stress on PCs
Solid party system like the one someone made up
making the Wards as effective and convient as an AH
after those are done, il even consider buying the game again on ps3 just for the sake of supporting what changes they did to make the game a true successor to FFXI.
I'm excited for this patch, I can't wait. I'm especially looking forward to the chocobos, but more dungeon and beastmen content sits well with me. I'm also liking the sound of adjusting the DoL leveling curve, it's probably the least exciting part of the game right now and the eternity it takes to level doesn't help.
Sounds nice, another good step, but man this game wont be up to scratch till jan 2012 if they do everything listed in 1.19 then ADD FF JOBS!
I think I will play again on a consistant basis.
Fact of the matter to me is that I like the changes being made. The flaming anger has subsided a bit but I still dont play much because though I love the new battle direction(strategy is needed now) I dont particularly like any of the generic ass classes.
Let me rephrase that I all out hate all of the boring generic battle classes all what 5 of them.
When they bring in PLD WHM BLM RDM NIN THF SMN DRG WAR RNG MNK BLU DRK and especially my all time favorite SAMURAI , then I will play every free moment I have and wouldnt blink when they say "OK people time to ante up!"

i am in looooove with that list. it will literally make me play full time if we get at least 75% of the most important stuff on initial release day......but.... Q.Q sniff..... a whole nother month delay. 1.18 also got about a 3 week delay since it was delayed after its delay.
sad to see their initial release dates to overhaul the game will not be anywhere near as planned. PS3 release is looking like early 2012 to me.
the only thing that is literally keeping me from the game is the lack of stat importance. i was really hoping to come back this month.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
I doubt they'll be rare, but can almost guarantee they'll be limited use. I say almost because I'm basing my judgement off of FFXI's chocobo system where the whistle to call them had an annoying cooldown timer. How long it was escapes me right now since it's been a while, but I'm sure someone here could elaborate on it.
FFXI's system really has no bearing on XIV, but it seems like something they'd do.
Holy hell in a hand basket!
This sounds promising.
