Estinien and Dark Knights (2.55 SPOILERS)

He may not have died.... but he seemed pretty much possessed by Nighog and near insane when he vanished. I expected him to turn up supporting the dragons, not at the side of our far too handsome Lord Commander.

He lost control at that pointand interestingly that event does seem to play into the current story. He now has a strong connection to Nidhogg and can actually hear Nidhogg's Dragonsong.

Estinien is greatly influenced by his anger. When he fought us the rancor of Nidhogg, which by Midgardsormr's comments would be incredibly strong, spilled over into him as his own anger left him open to it. At the time his anger was directed at Alberic due to what he saw as his foster father's failure and cowardice. However his deepest hatred is towards Nidhogg who destroyed pretty much his entire world during his childhood.

I think he's still something of a loose cannon cause his anger purveys him but it's now directed at Nidhogg, probably made stronger since he can now practically feel the Wyrmlord.

To be fair to others, I did the DRG line pretty recently so its still pretty clear in my mind. The thing that really surprises me is how few people seem to mention what happened to us at the end of that fight. Estinien wasn't the only one who seemed momentarily possessed. I think the potential implications of that could be as big as what happened with Estinien.

I'm really starting to think using the Eye of the Dragoon is like trying to balance the light and dark sides of the force with each other. No matter how noble your intentions there's a;ways the risk that you're going to go full sith (Or Dragon in this case) if you lose control of your self. I expect something similar to occur with the Dark Knight story since they willingly use Darkness as their weapon.

A..anyway... topic, after the lore release there was a moment of instant "could they be..?" twards Aymeric and Lucia, o.o what happens if Aymeric turns out to be the batman of their order? I mean imagine it if he winds up being our class trainer..

if you skip forward to 20:16 in this video there is a small scene showing a DRK, an AST, and a MCH (and NIN) in a dungeon setting. I assume this will be in the benchmark, personally.

1-I can't believe I haven't seen this vid linked yet
2- at the beginning it looks like the sheathed position for DRK sword is on their back not their hip as Aymeric has, not to mention a GREATsword would be too large to consistently keep on hip.
3- the DRK shows a sort of shielding skill with a cool magic circle, then a protect-like effect.
4- this shows the MCH pewpewing on the move, the AST using a card skill, and the NIN using something that thrusts a hand into the chest of the enemy, probably one of the new 50-60 skills!

I really hope Aymeric isn't related to the Dark Knights, because he's an official member of the Temple Knights and Dark Knights live to... purge, I suppose, corruption within the Temple Knights. I was also hoping to pick up DRK on my Au Ra alt ASAP (at 30) and if he's the class trainer for DRK that's impossible... though the possibility of being able to do so is suspect anyway, since Ishgard is sealed off until you complete 2.5.5.'s story.

Again, I want Aymeric to be part of the institution. I don't think we will be having Ishgard's religion as evil but perverted from its original form. Tainted by whatever sin started this whole war. As a result I think they need to present a part of that instiution that actually has something noble about it. Aymeric is currently our window for that. Im sure we are going to see much of the bad. We need to see some of the good. Having Aymeric be essentially a rebel undermines his ability to hold that role in the story.

DRK are cool. Aymeric is pretty cool too. I don't think and I don't want to see them be the same. After all, there has to be a core to Ishgard we actually would want to bother to save.

IIRC my DGN final quest, the guy hated you and Alberic as failures, you kick Estinien ass, he's almost dead and goes berserk with the eye, Nidhogg speaks to him offering power to beat you and he clearly accepts it.
Now, it's true after he fails (when the WoL dons the full DGN armor) you never see his body.....but even if he escaped, it seemed pretty clear he was still alive because of the power Nidhogg gave him.
And now, he shows up fighting against Nidhogg?....lol the power that saved him? what stops Nidhogg from stripping him of his power and send him to the grave?

My point is that it's a secret. The same way Thankred pretended to be a gladiator, they're pretending to be one-handed Holy Knights. As long as we're pointing out obvious armor inconsistencies: Neither of them have shields, very much UNLIKE standard knights, and that aspect of DRK is specifically mentioned in the lore.

I don't think he'll be the trainer, just a member, or at least a sympathizer. I think it's absolutely unreasonable to assume that he himself would be training you, but not at all unreasonable to think that he believes in the true justice that they fight for.

I could see Aymeric not beinga DRK himself, but one who certainly isn't against him...maybe the way they'll handle all three of the new jobs is to have Aymeric be the quest giver to start them out. Astro and Machinist are easy to find, but DRK would probably need a little help from a sympathizer to get to the real deal probably.
