Cid is more an engineer or a researcher.... he is not a machinist. the machinist will be using technologie for fight, do you have seen Cid fight? even when they say that they will fight we never see him get a gun.

Just reread the description of Machinist. You're right, it's inspired by Cid not run by him. It is still pretty clearly from an advanced weapons lab, people don't tend to put those in the middle of populated areas.

the whole city is a fortress and a huge one with this, they will probably have an area dedicated to the army and stuff link to it. i will not even be surprise to see that the army and the residential area are in the lower area and mixed, while the upper area is filled with the nobility and the knight/templar.

ps: don't hope that the nobility will do plebeian job like the machinist...
