I expect that your guesses are a bit to extreme.I thought they said they would accelerate it.
I don't like to guess, but some people here are expecting the kind of increase you would get in a regular patch, so I want to add some numbers I feel are more realistic for an expansion...
Lv55-59 gear .... item level 140 - 150
Lv60 dungeon gear ... iLv 160 - 170
tomes of law ... iLv 180
alexander loot ... iLv 190
tomes of esoterics .... iLv 190 (upgrade to 200)
alexander savage ... iLv 200
i100 is supposed to be entry level gear for the level 50+ content based on requirements to clear main story quests and gear granted by the dungeons that need to be completed to unlock Heavensward. I'm guessing that Heavensward won't start handing out the gear that out classes Poetics until Level 60. The which ever portion of the 8 new dungeons are the "leveling" dungeons will likely have gear covering i110, i120 and i130. Level 60 dungeon and Law gear will likely be the first upgrades for people in i130.
We humans read words the don't read the individual letters, but the pattern of letters. Tombstone and Tomestone are ~89% identical, so when speed reading/speed typing making the mistake of going with the more common word (Tombstone) over the rarer word (Tomestone) is not surprising.I guess, maybe if you don't know that a tome is a word usually used to describe large, heavy books? The item description of Unidentified and Encrypted tomestones state that they're full of information about the Allagan empire. I dunno, I don't see how people mix up a grave marker with an ancient hi-tech book, but maybe it's just me. xD

Not to mention the icon for Tomestones look nothing like a Tome, but rather a slab of stone...hence the escalated amount of confusion. I honestly wish they looked more "Tome"-like in the icon but whatever...Tombstone, Tomestone which ever one is being said 100% of the player based knows what the heck you're talking about.

People need to remember that not everyone will buy the expansion. There needs to be a currency left for those that do not have access to the new ones so presumably Soldiery will be removed and all current tomestone stuff will be available with uncapped Poetics.
As for what ilvl we'll be getting: Yoshi has already said in several interviews that he feels the current rate of increase in item level is too fast and that he intends to slow it down. Chances are we'll see increases of 5 levels at a time from now on instead of 10. I would expect the base item level range for the new 60 cap to be anything from 140 to 150 (it has to be higher than 135 or many players will already be geared at the new cap). From there I imagine the first of the new tomestones will allow us a 5 level increase and the second (when it unlocks a month later) another 5 level increase.
They're the Allagan equivalent of tablet computers or e-book readers. Rowena has said as much in the past. To be quite fair though, I can understand mis-reading the word the first couple of times if you're not familiar with it... but continuing to do it for 18 months? There's no excuse for that beyond sheer laziness.Not to mention the icon for Tomestones look nothing like a Tome, but rather a slab of stone...hence the escalated amount of confusion. Can you find a source for that as that's very contradictory to what was said to Famitsu at PAX East?As for what ilvl we'll be getting: Yoshi has already said in several interviews that he feels the current rate of increase in item level is too fast and that he intends to slow it down. http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/125...29-TranslationWill the flow of obtaining higher and higher level items with each patch be the same as before?
Yoshida: Increasing the upper limit will be the same as it has, but the overall range of available items will be wider than before. Along with that, the number of different steps of available equipment will be higher than before.

Presuming FFXIV follows the set example, as it has been in the past, there should be a significant item level gap between ARR and Heavensward. We will most likely be replacing FCoB gear in the first half of levels after 50 and then eventually replacing them with new AF for almost sure. I doubt they would make the mistake Blizzard did with BC -> WotLK with making Level 70 raid gear BIS for entry into Level 80 raids.

i remember saying yoshi-p saying he wanted a wider gap between Ilvls so it might beWell since there are Law and Esoteric Tomestones that were mentioned, its probably
Law = 130 > 135-140
Esoteric = 140 > 145-150
Depends on whether or not they want to keep increasing by ten, but I could've thought they said that they were going to slow down the item level climb, but I could be wrong. Hell its all speculation at this point.
Law 200 (accounting for the 10 levels we are levelling with a 50 ilvl from dreadwyrm (plus extra to make it higher then crafted gear
esoterics's 240 to 250 because this will be higher then alex hard mode but lower then alex savage mode (which is 250 or 260)
yes i know i went on the higher end :P just thinking big the numbers may be smaller but there will be a gap D:

Since the tomestones of erotics will be released 1 month after launch I am guessing Poetics will be unlimited while Law will have a weekly lockout.
After a month poetics will be phased out and it'll be law for unlimted and the erotics for the lockouts

Yosi-P did say that they tuned the Alexander Normal and Hard raids such that you need to farm Normal if you want to succeed in Hard. So there most likely will be a significant gap at least between AlexH loot and the entry Lv 60 loot. We also know that Lv 51 gear will not be higher than iLv 135.
My guess is:
Lv 55 at iLv 135
Lv 60 at iLv 140
Law gear and AlexN loot at iLv 150
Esoterics gear at iLv 160
AlexH loot at iLv 165-170
One thing I feel would be key is how Yoshi-P says the available iLv diversity will be wide. I'm guessing that it means different itemization at the top-end with minor differences in iLv (e.g. only 5 iLv difference) that may make a lower iLv item better for a particular job due to the itemization.
As tank though, we're probably still going to be looking at just Accuracy and iLv, unless they untie primary stats from the iLv.
