Is it time for SE to give PLDs a good bump in terms of DPS?

    Here goes my thing.

I know that PLD's main tanking strategy is to mitigate as much damage as possible but it will only take you long enough until you exhaust all your defensive cooldowns and you're as vulnerable as a bug. Shield Oath alleviates this problem by making you take reduced damage but at a very hefty price of reducing your already nonexistent damage potential. I know Defiance also reduces WAR's DPS but they have means to bypass it, not to mention that swinging in between stances for them is trivial. I have yet to learn how to WAR by building my confidence in tanking... hence I started as a PLD. As I watch videos of PLD and WAR PoVs, the value of WARs outshine that of PLDs as this game is mostly dodging red zones which trumps reduced damage taken, any day.

Taking reduced damage per hit is one thing. Speeding up the fight is another as you literally reduce the number of hits your enemy has to do. If this trend continues, PLDs will sit in the back burner for having the worst damage-dealing capabilities.

Now as the title states, is it time for SE to give some love to PLDs in the damage-dealing department?

Hmmm I don't know. Seeing fights where War and PLD are both 400+ while tanking I think they are currently balanced pretty well in that department.

PLDs do plenty of DPS in Sword oath, 400+ is not uncommon in FCoB. The biggest catch is they require a NIN/WAR for their slashing debuff. PLDs also lose a ton of DPS in shield oath compared to a defiance WAR.

They really need to up PLDs DPS while in shield oath and players need to stance dance better.

I'd appreciate a buff to Circle of Scorn to actually make it feel like it, well, does something. Its current damage is pathetic. It's a shame, such a good looking skill, its weak effect makes its animation look rather out of place.

Spirits Within could ignore the 20% damage penalty, perhaps.

It would be nice if pld didn't have to over gear and min max to do good damage. My last t10 I did 350 but only can do that once you don't need to tank in shield oath due to overgearing and str speccing.

All PLD needs in my opinion is a berserk counterpart, since fight or flight is essentially their unchained. My idea is add something similar to super charge from bravely default, make it swap your current attack power and physical defence for something like 20 seconds duration and a 3 min cooldown. This would make PLD pretty OP for a short time considering with foresight and protect we can reach over 1000 physical defence.

PLD can easily push over 400 even while MT, just gotta be in a good enough group and gear for it properly.

Anyone who's rocking mostly tome gear will never see it.

Sword Oath is fine, it's just that Shield Oath blows compared to Defiance. As soon as you're forced into your tanking stance, paladin falls behind compared to warrior.
