Pastel colors, gold and silver dyes...

How rare are these and what does one have to do to get them?

It's like there is an entire category of dye I cannot obtain, except for the 3 metallic colors on the MogStation. I know that they can be obtained by retainers on ventures, but my retainers must be terribly bad at finding dye, since I've had none. I was hoping that these might be used as prize items at the Gold Saucer, but that has come and gone without the dyes appearing. So, how do you get them?

Retainer quick venture is how you get em. When they first came out I was able to get them with retainer ilvl 80+. Botanist started bringing them back at gathering 280 or 312. Don't remember that one for sure. This may have changed due to the i100 venture being added.

You may be able to find already dyed items to purchase on the market boards, as well. For example, I bought a couple of pastel pink dyed items the other day.

Pretty rare. I never got any until my retainer was i90 - I got her to i100 yesterday though so maybe I'll start getting them more often.
I wish they were buyable somewhere though...I'd rather pay a vendor 100k a pot for a color I need than wait an hour hoping my retainer brought back what I want. (Hint: she didn't) I'm probably going to give up on jet black in a couple days and just buy it from someone (trade item, pay, dye, return)

They're from retainer ventures and they're somewhat rare. The metallic colors are the most common, followed by black/white, and then the pastels. I have 2 retainers, one is i120 and the other is i100. The i100 has brought me back more dyes, but the i120 retainer has given me all of my pastel colors.

I'm thinking i80-i90 is when your retainer can start bringing back dyes fairly commonly.

Sounds like I will need to obtain a bit more gear for my GLD retainer to have a chance. Seems pretty sillyto lock a vanity item behind both an RNG and an indirect gear grind. I'm not saying they should be handed out like candy, but as prizes at gold saucer or something, they would at least be available to everyone in some fashion or another

I get pastel dyes almost as often as fish from my retainer. Pure white and jet black not so often, but I've still gotten my fair share of them.

I'm not sure if pastel dyes are truly "rare" or if I'm just lucky.

The trouble is, my spare GLD gear my retainer uses is apparently a couple ilvls below the threshhold. I bet I'm far from alone in that.

Pure luck. In about 50 ventures I've gotten 4x dye. (1x silver, 2x gold, 1x black)
