Where are all of the male Keepers of the Moon?

Otherwise, the're relegated to nameless background npcs: Lominsa Calamity salvager, crystal brave member, that drunk in buscaroon druthers.

Or evil people: Couerl King and the guy in a certain quest

If I recall correctly, the calamity salvager and the drunk guy in Buscarrons are bother Seekers.
The only 2 Keeper NPCs are King Poach and the unnamed Crystal Brave guy that shows up in Old Gridania for that one quest and never seen again.

Given that male miqo'te are less common than females anyway, the "wanderers" lifestyle for Keepers makes them especially rare, even more so than Seekers. The number of NPCs seems to confirm the lore.

And yet the once-equally-rare female Roegadayn are now everywhere post-Calamity, not to mention one major NPC from before they were playable who continues to maintain a strong presence. Let's also not forget that we have a female Au Ra (for the moment, the only of her kind in Eorzea) moving into position to continue this pattern into 3.0.

But male Miqo'te are solitary and rare, so we can't have one of those in the recurring cast. Pretty sure any solid lore justifications have evaporated by now and we've moved into the realm of good, old-fashioned men-hate-male-characters sexism. I'd feel differently if there wasn't at least one male and female of every other playable race with a voiced role in the Main Scenario.

I do need to get around to that one story, though, if only to reestablish myself as the last of my kind in Eorzea. Sigh.

Other than not having a model yet was there any lore-related reason why there weren't any Roegadyn females back in 1.0?

Looking at their description there isn't anything talking about gender disparities ala Miqo'te

It was mentioned as a cultural thing in 1.0's character creator, from what I remember, but it's been years since I made a character for 1.0. That's obviously not the case anymore, but it seems like a pretty selective retcon.

Eh, Yugiri is just the first of her kind. We don't know who else may join for the Au'ra, but I'm betting we'll see some, perhaps even in this latest patch. And we've got a pretty good balance of male/female, even if it isn't necessarily balanced around races. It's more leaning towards female, but it's hard to say where the overall ratio will balance out once we see all the various antagonists, especially since so far they've been almost all male.

But as for major characters for specific races, I'm not really recalling any female Elezen or female Highlanders, so it's not really just male Keepers that aren't showing up. There is the male Miqo'te from the Crystal Tower line though.

As for the guy from CT, he is important, but...

In spite of taking a lead role in a story with more than a few main cast members, G'raha is a bait-and-switch who can't ever show up again without a literal miracle, written off just short of becoming counted as part of the recurring cast. We may never even hear his name again. I'm pretty sure they were actually counting on players expecting otherwise to increase the impact of that final twist. That he did exist may even become an excuse if they decide not to make any more important male Miqo'te.

So while you could argue that there is a respectable male/female balance in the main cast in spite of racial disparities, it's only male Miqo'te who have this far remained excluded. And male Keepers especially have it rough anywhere they show up. And Yugiri, well, it's more that she's the first of her kind and already more important than any male Miqo'te in-game.

I admit I'm splitting more than a few hairs, but still.

As a female highlander, I do feel kind of left out. Yes, we are huyrs, but we arent midlanders. I don't even see a lot of players as female highlanders. I do honestly believe we should get a bit more variety in the protagonist of this game. Not a lot of elezen, roes, or male Miqo'te. Having one or two that don't follow lore to the letter won't break anything, as a single outlier doesn't discount anything, but is usually discounted from the whole.

Not arguing with you at all, just so you know. Even just one each of the playable subrace/gender combos contributing something important to the main scenario would just make sense for players who want an important NPC to identify with. Unfortunately, the devs seem to have their own priorities on which races/genders they like using (and overusing), and so long as those preferences continue to only negatively impact a few minorities, they probably don't consider it an issue.

Revising my earlier sentiment after 2.55's MSQ:

Nobody was ever safe, and people you've never met before can show up and be acknowledged by your character as someone you've met before. Anything is possible at this point.
