I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
If this deters one person from posting his infinite suggestions on things of which he knows very little about. I'll give it 10 gold stars.
Surely it can stop at least one... my heart can't hardly take it no mo. lol

For every troll you kill, two more will be born to replace it. It's best to just quaranteen them, and not spread the infection. i suggest a "no holds barred" section

I"m not sure exactly where I stand on this issue. I play this game, but I occasionally take time off, sometimes a month or 2, then come back and completely reroll my character. Thus I haven't progressed passed level 35 yet.
While not allowing people who don't play to post on the forums, might be a good idea as far as, it may help stop people who just post on threads things like "this game sucks" blah blah blah, it will also stop people who may not be playing it full time, but are interested in seeing what direction its going in, to add their thoughts and experiences from other games they might be playing instead.
To narrow the forums down to only the xiv population, which is already in question (threads about low population pop up all the time), sounds a little to me like only catering to the already small popuation of full time players. In other words, almost like closing the door to any outside opinions, lets just stick with the small group we have and make them happy.
I said this a long time ago, on a thread similar to this, outside opinions IMO are at least as important to this games development as opinions from its players.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but this game needs to grow. Pleasing the people who already play it, and in some way, already accept it in its current state, isn't helping to gain new players who can't find any form of fun in its current state.
This might sound harsh to say , on forums filled with players of the game, but I would almost go so far as to say some changes that need to be made, might even be things the current players don't want at all. I don't mean drive away people who are playing it, but don't let those people single this game out to be "their game only".
I'm glad they made this feature but I seriously doubt it'll lessen the critique.
Honestly I rarely see completely unfounded critique on these forums (lots of un-necessary though) but people just like to use this "you don't even play" and then stoop to name calling anyway.
Seriously if you spend a lot of time on the forums of a game you don't even play then consider SE doing you a favor by kicking you out.
I thought most of the trolls here were Square-Enix apologists that defended every move SE makes/has ever made..?
Or multiple rank 50 SE haters. "I hate your game so much, I achieved max rank on multiple jobs! I hope that loogey in your eye really STINGS SE!"
Or just people like me, who play, have a valid opinion (sometimes critical, sometimes supportive) of the company/game, but really get a kick out of everyone else blowing a head gasket on forums.
If you don't think new summoner is better, you're playing the wrong game.
none of ya'll remember ffxi forums too well eh??
players gonna complain about annoying crap, like the anima refresh rate. give me a tele spell.
And by the way, making the FFXI/FFXIV forums inaccessible to non-players is the dumbest idea I've ever heard of. It makes no sense having to link a character to a forum identity to begin with. We NEED the opinions of retired/prospective players to keep the development of the game fresh and inspired. This exclusionary attitude is one of the reasons why FFXI was the "best kept secret" of MMOs. It's really hard to pull in new clients when you don't even provide a convenient venue for them to voice their questions/concerns.
I'm suspecting this is being implemented because of the upcoming payment changes and how players with dual FFXI/FFXIV accounts will be enraged and will use this forum to vent because they won't have access to the FFXI forums when they either can't use Crysta because of their region or would rather forgo being robbed by Click and Buy.
If you don't think new summoner is better, you're playing the wrong game.
Look at the timing of this, remember when the game was released so early and we couldnt figure out why they did it? Turns out it was a money driven choice(end of the fiscal year bonuses). I am pretty sure this is the same thing. I dont see it detering anyone from posting HOWEVER it could make several people who have not been logging in log in atleast once a month just to post. Yoshi-P and his crew could be getting perfomance bonuses based on how well they are retaining players or bringing players back. Maybe their software that decides if someone is an "active" player considers someone active if they log in once per month. Sounds like another way for SE employees to skew the players numbers to get a better end of the fiscal year bonus to me.
