I always seem to get most of the parties' commendations as a white mage, but then, I also DPS my ass off, use fluid aura strategically, know how to hard-raise half the party while keeping both tanks alive...

Basically, you get comms less for being good at your class, and more for getting noticed. If no one in the run stands out, the tank's name is first on the list, so they get the comm by default.

Though personally, I usually give mine to a dps, unless the tank really impressed me.

I've been playing for about a year now and I'm sitting at 1950 commendations. I normally queue as PLD/WAR with SCH being my third choice. Comparatively speaking, I've probably gotten just as many commendations when I heal as I have when I tank. I only queue as DPS on occasion, but I've gotten a fair amount of commendations as DPS as well.

Honestly, I don't go into a dungeon expecting a commendation simply for completing the content as a tank or healer. I mean, completing the content is the whole point of queueing, right? I go in there and do my damnedest to make the run go well. I say hi at the beginning of the instance. I ask if big pulls are OK. I use every last skill I have trying to save a situation gone horribly wrong. If I screw up, I apologize. If someone else screws up, I tell them it's fine and we dust ourselves off and try again. I make stupid jokes. I explain mechanics to new people. Basically, I just try to be personable and do my job well. Both are ways of leaving an impression on people.

I actually end up dropping a lot of commendations on DPS because I normally queue in a premade with at least one other friend. We often queue on tank/heal and sometimes one on DPS. That lucky random DPS we get not only gets a smooth run but will get 3 commendations unless they acted like a total ass. Even if they didn't play the best or were undergeared, as long as it seemed like they were trying to do their job they get the commendations.

I don't think not giving commendations shows a lack of respect for your healing ability. I personally find it more disrespectful when people don't wait the extra 30 seconds for buffs since it was pre-determined we were gonna speed run everything.

    That's just me tho...

I don't think you should expect commendations as a healer just because you heal, that's what you're there for. Personally I don't care if someone commends me, I know if aI did a good job. I heal because I like healing and I feel happy if I managed to do a good job, that is my reward.

Especially in high level content, if you want to aim for commendations, just healing is not enough. Make sure to also help out with the dps while maintaining the party at good health. This is how you show you can play your class and excell in it.

In short: don't expect commendations just because you fulfill the job of your queue role.

IMO tanking is was easier then DPS lol maybe it's just me but I don't find tanking stressful cause mostly I just stand still and pop cool downs most fights don't have tank mechanics besides don't die

On the other hand it's normally down to DPS to remember and handle all the different mechanics on top of dodging and doing their rotation and adapting to the situation

I'm generalizing and yeah tanks need to have an idea on mechanics but still dps is way more stressful to me 10 fold so they normally get my comms in the more mechanic heavy dungeons otherwise I'll give it to the healer since I'm not dead and we won lol

Though honestly you should never expect comms because of your class each class has its own difficulty is my point lol just be friendly it helps a lot

    1) You're a Lalafell
    2) Most people will commend any decent played tank, because there are so many bad tanks, that people will be thankful for a mediocre one that doesn't take 20 years to pull and continuously wipe the party
    3) You can only commend one person, it usually goes to the tank
    4) You're a Lalafell

I'll admit I'm stingy with giving out commendations, even after generously receiving 700+ commendations for myself. This is because I like to give credit where credit is due, ONLY when it is due. I don't commend people arbitrarily for no reason. I like to commend people who do something special, like a Black Mage taking Eye for an Eye to speed up runs, or a Monk who switches to Fists of Earth to take over tanking when the tank falls, or a clutch Swiftcast Resurrect from a Summoner when the healer goes down, or someone playing DPS who has cross classed Cure or Physick and helps out with healing.

If you really want that Golden Magitek Armor, there are plenty of things you can do if you want to rack up the commendations. Here are some tips:
    1) Improve your gameplay skills. Yeah that Swiftcast Raise saved the day, but you were expected to do that. Why don't you stance dance and dish out some major DPS as well? That will make you stand out more.
    2) Improve your manners / social skills, say Hello and be nice to people.
    3) Revisit Guildhests and early Trials. These can be completed very quickly to rack up commendations in a short period.
    4) Take time out to thoroughly explain in detail dungeon and boss mechanics to new players.

If you want to sell out your pride and dignity and don't mind stooping low, you could try out using this Macro that I wrote just for you:

/p "Great job everyone! Show your healer some love and give me a commendation if you think I did a good job!"
    /p "Thanks and good luck!"
    /bow

Oh and last but not least, consider using Fantasia into something more appropriate, like a Roegadyn.

Make sure to give us some love every once in a while too.

I am tired of working my little Lalafell booty off, at times depending on swiftcast reviving not once in a boss fight, but 3+ times because people (including tanks) stand in AEO that literally takes half their health away from one hit, and then at the end getting zero commendations. You might as well give me a huge middle finger because that's exactly what it feels like, especially in those cases. Seriously, getting the required commendations I need for the stuff I want is going to take years at this rate.
