this affects who gets mine aswell seen some really grouchy healers only time i wont give them a commendation lol but seen some really rude ppl in general abusing people even after saying its thier first timeHonestly on my part it has nothing to do with being a good healer (or tank, or dps...) or an awful one: if you were nice and polite, you will get my comm'.
Why? because it is really hard to have people even saying "hello" , "thanks" or "good bye" nowadays... I 100% prefer playing with a newbie still learning his job if he is polite and nice, than a "wonderful" player which don't even bother to say hello or "thanks for the party"... I am human, not a computer...
(english is not my main language trying to do my best hope you can understand what I mean ;o))
DPS is like invisible person, I'm still new here but most of commendation I've got are from TANK role not DPS. I mostly give commendation to healer first then DPS. I only receive few commendation as a BARD, some people want achievement or reward from commendation and my advise is just go TANK, people see them first as a hero.
If in ROCK Band it goes like this.
Singer = TANK
DPS = Guitarist or Bass
Healer = Drummer
As a singing bard, I rarely get commendations.
I can have one screwed up healer, give them MP.
End of the run nothing.
With that said, I don't care for them, and I give people
comm's if they were helpful, fun or funny.
In a silent group, I just see who does the best.
I wish I could give everyone a comm if they were fun.
I asked a friend to comm a very sweet tank and her gf BLM so they could both get coms,
and they traded with us comms too...So everyone got one that run!![]()

I give comms to those that deserve it. I couldn't care less about your class or role, if you are a nice person and do your job, you get my comm. Simple as that.
If you have this kind of thinking more people will less respect you.
I'm fully agree with u manI'm a little "Wut" about this...I play sch and blm and have the same level of difficulty. Healing can be super easy. DPS can be super easy. Tanking can be easy (and yes I've tanked...I just dont like tanking because to me it's super boring I have a war at 50 and a pld at 48). We're a party...if everyone (INCLUDING the dps) aren't pulling their weight, the party fails! It depends on the group as a whole...not an individual.
So honestly, by this mentality I almost feel like you're saying dps don't really deserve commendations. DPS go through tough situations as well. Take this situation for example. The healer went down when the boss was 50% at health. And YET the party didnt wipe. DPS get so much LESS respect than healers it isn't even funny.
I personally give comm's to people who were pretty dang cool with me, and gave it their all. Showed patience and effort. I don't care what role they had.
If you dps in your offtime your commendations are almost guaranteed.
People will notice you if you make their runs faster. I am sry but healing requirements in dungeons are extremely light, so just throwing the occasional heal wont cut it if you want to impress people.
Go through the whole thing with cleric stance never off, blizzard2 spam and shadowflare miasma2 for big pulls and heal with selene/lustrate only, maybe you will get a comm from the tank
Maybe people give tanks their comm to thank them for the queue, OR you aren't as good as you think. You will never know how good or bad you are until you see others, which means not queuing as healer.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that comment, I guess I shouldn't assume DPS is easier, it just usually is in every other MMORPG I've played so I naturally assumed it was in FFXIV too (from what I played of THM, it was definitely easier, but that was in lvl 15-26 dungeons, and even healing at that stage is easy, so I can't really base it off of that) . I guess it's just less stressful by the sounds of it.
I DPS and heal. That's basically a requirement...
