Yeah, they even said that right now they don't feel Ishgard should have housing because of all that the wild mess happening there. I wouldn't trust that info.

No developer would ever make any statement that would commit them to something as long-term as 5 years so it's pretty obvious your 'friend' is making things up.

The reality is they've stated that there will be no new housing areas in Ishgard for Heavensward but they have implied (meaning: not outright stated) that we'll get some more wards with the expansion. The expansion would make the most sense for timing to expand the housing areas since they'll be doing back-end work on the servers anyway. Whether they do or not... we'll see I suppose.

Unless its in a REALLY obscure interview, I think your friend is wrong. Infact not that long ago the devs were saying that most of the proceeds of the cash shop are to allow them to invest in infrastructure for additional housing, etc.
