Not to say they aren't taking any action but generally RMT go unpunished most of the time. So these days I don't even bother reporting them. Why bother when you get the cookie-cutter response of "Thank you for reporting this, please go to this website and file a report. Thank you." all the time?

Also they CAN'T divulge actions they take against other players, so the canned response is what you're going to get.
See, if people keep reporting them, they WILL take action. If people say "Eh, not gonna bother," then it solves nothing.

Please report them using the ingame report function.
Bots do exist and they do in fact go into DF.

Writing about it on the forums won't really do much.
When you write a report try to be as detailed as possible including date, time, timezone, server data center you're on, what duty you entered, and the characters' names. Then you can pretty much copy what you wrote here to explain what happened.

do we know for absolute certainty that these were the exact same bots, though?

I think SE (and most of the player community) have decided to ignore the bot/rmt problem till 3.0.

Interestingly enough, you can still target them by targeting the mob they're fighting and then clicking on the target's target. That's useful in helping report them.

Honeypot. Companies do not ban whack-a-mole style. They find the big gilsellers/buyers and watch who they do business with, create a large network of these people, and then do a mass banning. It's very likely you'll see all the people you report for a good long time, and then all of a sudden, they vanish (like what happened a few months ago).

Reporting them does not guarantee that they will be banned. It just guarantees someone will look into it. Someone could have looked into it and cleared them.
