Whenever I type it out, it always comes out as Miquote, even though I'm pronouncing it correctly in my head. When in doubt, assume Japanese pronunciation.

I dunno about anyone else, but I don't see it pronounced the same as the "ou" in "ouch," despite what Ferne said earlier. Now, before anyone accuses me of ignoring the devs on this, not that he also said Auri rhymes with Maori. And http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...M%C4%81ori.ogg sounds like what I expected from Auri, but does not at all sound to me like an "ow" sound. That is, the "a" and "u" of the word keeping their distinct sounds rather than combining.

Maybe my brain just isn't separating the "ow" sound into its component parts correctly, but either way, I'm not getting it. >_>

I'm probably more used to Japanese phonetics in that every vowel is distinct, so I've always read it as "ah-oo rah" so even with the race name and the fact the sword presumably from an Auri warrior is named Zantetsukan which is Japanese, it is highly probable that they will still draw from Japanese.

Au and Ow and Ou are making the exact same sound, Ariacakes. :O

For the record, the name of the race in katakana is アウラ, which if you know Japanese even a hair leaves the pronunciation super clear. (And the pronunciations of race names between Japanese and English are largely exactly the same, so.)

(For the curious: ア is a kind of "low A", ウ is usually romanized as "U" but is slightly closer to an "oo", but not as high; ラ is just literally "ra".)

Though Ferne, a little question if I may: I noticed from the start that it's アウラ in Japanese, and not アウ・ラ - there's no interpunct separating the two major syllables. Is the separation of the syllables in English just for clarity (so that people don't try to literally pronounce it as "aura", which wouldn't be right)? Despite the space, it is meant to be pronounced as more or less one word, I take it.

Yeah, I'll admit that even as I was posting that, I thought "wait, you can also read that as both having the same basic root". We'll have to see what the ultimate situation is.

The darker-scaled clan is going to be Dravanian, just you wait, I'll show you aaaalllllll

That depends on your language (and dialect) :P
What may sound the same to you could be pronounced very differently by someone else.

To me, at least two of those sound very different.

Yeah, I can't think of a situation where au sounds like the other two. I mean, I know what it would take, but I can't think of any words where that happens. . .

Now just replace "Dee" with "Ra" (and it is said as one word)

In my defence, I rarely think of cars.

Besides, I don't think that pronunciation is even supported by the katakana.

That was just the first word I thought of that matches the "Ow" sound found in Au Ra, lol.
